“Not your average all inclusive”
Reviewed June 21, 2012

I have never been a fan of all inclusive as it often means more quantity and less quality, with long ques at the bars & waiting for tables. With that in the back of my mind we took a late booking to the Sensatori as we thought the weather, beach, snorkelling & diving would compensate for the accommodation. How wrong I was, this hotel is superb, as clean as any hotel I have ever seen (yes as good as Switzerland, Austria & Singapore). The place is obsessively clean, they use industrial floor scrubbers on the outdoor paths, the toilets are as clean as any kitchen and a diry glass, cup or plate is unheard of.
The choice of food in the 6 restaurants is wide & varied, catering for all tastes & food is available 24 hours a day, including room service at no extra cost. The resort is billed as 'gourmet' which is stretching the definition a little but the quality is well above expectations, with lots of fresh food which is not left on the buffet too long & most of the restaurants cook to order.
Drinks are excellent with good quality Spanish wines, every coctail imaginable, cool local beer & branded spirits ( no single malt whisky or Cognac or Champagne), all served well with appropriate ice/fruit/herbs.
The beach is slightly disappointing with a lot of weed which the hotel clears daily, but it returns as fast as they clear it.
The location is quite remote & a bus or taxi is neede to get to anywhere other than the 2 adjacent hotels (owned by the same company)
The absolute best part of this hotel is the staff. Faultless! Attentive but not obtrusive, polite, friendly, excellent linguistic skills, knowlegable etc. etc. Every single one is worthy of mention & praise, but as there are so many I will only metion a few: the cleaners & chamber maids for a perfect on-going job, sports, fitness & enertainment staff , especially Manuel the gym & fitness team leader, the bar staff for fast, friendly service especially in the very busy mojito bar & the adults only bar. The management & particularly the personell department of this hotel are world class & the success that surround them is well deserved . The best all inclusive I have seen.

Room Tip: A lot of rooms have a sea view, but it is far better on the upper 2 floors, if you do not want to he...

I always thought that people that put up terrible reviews are cranks or have vendettas against the hotel this is not the case in this instance I am trying to give an honest and frank view of this hotel so you know what to expect and not waste your money on a holiday you do not want.

Please be warned I never have complained on any of thomsons hotels to date and not in any resort caravan site or camp site I have had the pleasure of staying in, however after staying here and recieving the kind of backup from thomson like i have you will understand as to why I will not book through thomson again.

I had property stolen off me during my stay
Was left with a broken toilet seat
broken doors in two of the three rooms I stayed in
Was kept up all night by the americans partying
The water in the pool was filthy
had to use the lifts with the staff
water dripping into food in the spoons restaurant (its ok they send maids with mops to clean vents while people are eating)
so many people had food poisoining
my son was treated for eye infection
my wife treated for ear infection
ibrufon costs about £12 a pack (no wonder they tape them up)
was offered a meal by the hotel to say sorry and then they never organised it
had three bottles of champagne in my room as apologies but never drank one
was ignored by room service twice never turned up
three times room service never answered when i rang supposed to be 24 hrs
all the staff where disgusted in this hotel they all lookin to get out
thompson where paid £160 as an apology to them for the poor service and the meal that was never organised we to date have been offered £100 to spend back with them they just aint interested
the concierge ask you to write a good review as soon as you get there
ignore nick resort manager he is full of it , what a bare face liar
The staff where really nice here
The hotel is a dump you feel jealous when visiting other hotels on excursions
Dunno what is about the sensatori and the senses nothing to do with the senses
Amercans seemed to do what they wanted no one has any sort of power here
the barbacue bar the birds eat the rice and chicken with you ( not very healthy)
not even gonna start on the beach
halls are full of plates due to the amount of room service are the water splattered buffet isnt that appetising or the staff dont like what you or your children are wearing

I was asked to sign a disclaimer askin me to not say anything about this hotel that deemed harmful I refused and they moved me anywhay, do not go to the sensatori mexico stay in pontins and go to mcdonalds they have less disease in their burgers

Travelling with my husband and 13yr old daughter. After a 10hr flight we had a lovely welcome from reception and shown straight to our room 3211. It was large and clean with a king size bed and a sofa bed.
STAFF the most friendly and helpful people.
POOL we stayed round the family pool which was lovely and easy to get a bed daily
BEACH able to get a bed when ever we wanted, but the sea to be honest is unswim able with sea weed and rocks but we did no this when we booked, even when we went to cancun they seemed to be suffering with sea weed too.
ENTERTAINMENT for all ages in the daytime, evening had some good shows and a great reggae band on the beach once a week
RESTAURANTS
Spoons! good for breakfast and lunch
Italian! our favorite! JUAN MANUEL was an excellent waiter and couldnt do enough for us, beautiful food
Tapas! Fab! Loved this, 6 courses all set menu but changed daily
Carribean! Nice food slightly slow service, fantastic burgers
Mexican! Fantastic steak sizzler
Le Chique! Beautiful setting, 3hr dinning with 12 courses all lovely but weird food! BUT our waiter asked if we wanted the wine with our meal at £80 each we said no! We asked for house wine which we had in every other restaurant, I don't no if he was on commission but he didnt seem happy! He only filled our glasses twice, this is the only time we didn't tip
THOMSON nick sue and Kia all very helpfull reps, booked all our trips with them didn't feel ripped off
TRIPS cancun shopping 4hrs return bus $15
Wet n wild
Trainer for a day $189, it's a must, had around 3hrs in swimming with dolphins including scuba, plus watched a video on the birth plus behind the scenes tour,
Included was 2hrs on the water rides plus 2photos and a t-shirt
Albatross boat cruise $69 a great day out swam in the reef stopped at isle majeres for about 3hrs lunch was included and drove round the island in a golf buggy, beautiful place
Chitcha itza $119
Early start 6.30am a very interesting day my daughter loved it, had a fab guide called Martin so funny but knowledgeable, stopped off to swim and at a town.
CHILDREN'S CLUB didn't use
WEDDINGS daily but didn't disturb us
SPA didn't use
OVERALL VIEW
A lovely place with fab staff, was more for couples, ok for under 10yrs but not alot for teens! Only reason I wouldn't stay again is because there's to many other places to visit in the world... Unless someone would like to pay for me I would be more than happy to join them

I went on 1st June to 16th June we stayed in a premium swim up adult only suite and i loved every second of my holiday .. The entertainment team are amazing Manuel.. Rod (my mini peter andre) Kavanna and Dani.. the waitor Roberto was so lovely i got prickly heat and needed cream he helped me translate from spanish to english ;) Every one at the hotel was lovely the meet and greet when you check is was so quick and clear ..

It has to be my favoruite holiday and yes the beach isnt perfect but a shor walk past the nude beach and you have clear water and whiter sands ...

I do have to say the maids do knock early and bar staff to fill your mi9ni fridges but if you dont want to be disturbed before 9.30 just remember to put your do not disturb on door.... Also the staff in caribbean are poor they do ignore you and make you wait agesssss lunch and dinner we went 4 times and all 4 times we was in there forever.... and our orders were messed up dont sit outside if you want to be served quick ! LOL

The entertainment they lay on is brilliant different things each night and scattered around the hotel ...

The last 2 days of our holiday were the worse as we had an american couple move in next door (room 2102) and were up shagging at 5.30 am and my god did she let the whole block know about it and again in the afternoon and before bed.. Good job we was leaving or i would have complained .. everyone else was on holiday too and i dont think appreciated being woken at 5.30 am or kept up at night ! NAME AND SHAME

Other then this the food was immense and holiday was amazing ive taken away some good memorys and ill be sure to re book a sensatori holiday xxxxx

Room Tip: Adult swim up rooms are worth every penny you pay :) secluded pool away from every one else and priv...

We booked this holiday in Dec 2011.
We were looking forward to this break as we'd thought it was going to be more us. Luxury is what we love.
So here's what we got: free drinks, free meals, free room service 24 hours a day, free mini bar, restocked daily!! Free beach towels. It's a very lovely room with a jacuzzi not a hot tub as described in the brochure. His & hers sinks in the bathroom area & separate shower & toilet! A great place but noting is free! We didnt go to le chic as the food is like tapas but more posh! I am limited to what i can eat so no good to me. All other restaurants are nice but we preferred the caribbean for lunch & spoons in the evening. If you tip every other day the waiters will give you better service. I have put a selection of pics on. Hope you enjoy as much as we have!

On arriving to sensatori we were greeted with a nice glass of prosecco and cold towel-much appreciated after travelling so far! check in was quick and our late request to be in the adults block (were in normal block to start with) had been granted. we arrived at our room (standard room) to the most stunning view of the resort and beach (adult block 3rd floor!) big hot tub in the room, giant bed, big TV, nice shower/bathroom area- lovely! Be warned we ran the bath 1st the turned on the jets and some black stuff came out (from where it hadn’t been used in a while which meant we had to empty and start again). was all spotless and bed very comfy!

We ate in all the restaurants including the 'le chique', we went there on the wed lunch (you have to go at 2pm to reserve) and got table for sat eve- so make sure u book in advance... don’t be too bothered if you can’t get in.. it was enjoyable and different experience but not particularly tasty! we also did the wine tasting which was nice!
Caribbean- must go for burgers at lunch time they were delicious and good fish in the evening.
Italian - good food but very small portions, my boyfriend could have eaten 4 lasagnas but it’s all inclusive so we just ordered more, wasn’t a problem.
Mexican- nice pizzas/sandiwiches for lunch, didn’t eat there much though.
Buffet- was amazing for breaky!! egg lady cooked eggs however u liked and you can ask her for bacon for some reason they didn’t have it out on show. loads of fresh fruit/ pastries/hot and cold foods! also went there for lunch once and they had lovely salads, fish, hot and cold food variety is endless could not fault this place.
Tapas- so awful! we did the tasting menu and it was honestly inedible- I normally love tapas too and im not fussy, not a prob though we just went to the buffet after! seen other people have said nice things though so maybe just dont go for the tasting menu haha!
beach bbq- can’t fault -tasty burgers/chicken/sausage/chorizo/salad/rice- yum!
Room service we had one night as we were so tired from jet lag, was nice and hot, good enough variety and again included for free!
mini bar in room was topped up every day, it had few beers/diet cokes/water/lemonades in and we wouldnt need anything else we only had beer or two when getting ready and water during night, the rest of the time we were not in the rooms!

Adults pool was great! we managed to get a day bed everyday no prob (due to jet lag we were waking up at 5/6am and by the pool by 8)
Swim up bar lovely and service great. Also waiter comes round to the beds every 30 mins so if you are feeling especially lazy you dont even need to swim up to the bar! divine! also very funny watching crazy Americans doing tequilas at the pool bar at 11am as soon as bar opens and proceeding to get drunk and burnt! I’m sure some people would get annoyed with this but we thought it was quite funny and they were not that loud so not a prob for us!
There was somthing going on everyday, from yoga to football to volleyball to quiz games and you could get involved or just sit and watch. you could basically do as little or as much as you want.
the mojito bar was a bit of a let down, not enough seating and drinks were not that great. They could do with a nice bar on the beach or something to make most of location but not going to complain just a tip!
we were not that bothered about the evening entertainment as we were there as a couple, but having said that the stuff we watched was more for kids (magicians/dancers etc) nothing really seemed to be going on for adults until after we went to bed 10/11 (due to jet lag) but i think it did go off a bit after that as there is photo board in the resort with people looking quite drunk!
weddings were not a problem as people have said - i thought it was lovely to see people in wedding/bridemaids dresses enjoying their special day and nothing was ever shut off to us during our stay because of the weddings (at least one a day)
Beach- we knew about the seaweed before we came so not a problem and was not as bad as eveyone made out we could have swam if we wanted and we saw several people swimming (pool was enough for us!) we went for walk along the beach every day (beware nudist beach!) amusing for us - prob not so much if you have little ones!
We went to Xel-ha and did the dolphin package- cant recommend this enough! One of most beautiful places I have ever been and crystal clear waters!- shame its been commercialized but if it hadn’t we wouldn’t have found it.. dolphins was amazing and my boyfriend had been few times before in florida and he said this one was the best as we did things he hadn’t done like the foot push and we also got to go back later and have half and hour snorkeling with them which was just awesome.
Also went in to cancun for the night- very funny and well worth the money (alcohol all night, entry and transport included) good for a dance and coco bongos was like nothing i had ever seen before!
Personally I wouldnt bother with the premium section as we always got a bed and the swim up suits were in the shade! not worth it!

one thing i must say is service was great. from the maids cleaning the rooms, to the groundsmen to the barmen to the waiters- could not fault anyone they all work so hard and gave impecible service could not fault anyone!
All in all great holiday would go back in a heartbeat!
Hope this helped and dont listen to the bad reviews!

Room Tip: dont bother with the premium section as we always got a bed and the swim up suits were in the shade...

We just got back from our trip to the azul sensatori and our experience was so great none of us can think of a single complaint about it. Our group consisted of 4 people,( ages 29,28,18 and 7). The reception when we arrived was fantastic as we were greeted with champagne for the adults and a chocolate smoothie for the little one. Check in was a breeze thanks to Muhamad who made it as fast as possible. We were in our room and down by the pool in less than a half hour from our arrival. After that it was pure bliss. Food was great at all the restaurants and even the beach barbeque was good. Nightlife entertainment was good as we enjoyed the reggae beach party and the Michael Jackson show. The mojito bar at night is very good as well with amazing mojitos, (try the watermelon mojito). The enitre staff at the resort was amazing! Can't say enough about the staff. Just the greatest people period. Oh and before we went there were several reviews knocking how bad the beach was, it fine when we went.
