We went here for our honeymoon August 11 - 18, 2013.
Oceanview room - AMAZING
jacuzzi bathtub - AMAZING
Food - AMAZING
Pools - AMAZING
all the staff trying to sell us things - POOR
first we get there are handed champagne and a cool cloth, amazing! We get right in with a check in agent, everything is great. He upsells us to upgrade our room to an oceanview suite, we are fine with that so we do the upgrade, and from there on out every staff member tried to sell us any and everything they can. The all inclusive dinners are GREAT, however beware, they have a special every night and if you get the special it costs you. They also give you a wine list and none of those wines are included. They tried to sell us a $50,000 (that is right $50,000) package to be a lifetime member. They tried to sell us on every excursion and when we decided to rent our own car and go on our own excursions, they made us feel guilty about this.
The facility is AWESOME!!!! Please just be prepared and do not let the sales vultures get you. This was the perfect honeymoon spot with out all the sales pitches. I read reviews before our trip about the sales vultures and it was worse than I imagined. However, the resort is AMAZING!!!!! No complaints about the food, the room, the housekeeping, the friendliness, only the continual sales pitches.
Would recommend to a friend, but I would give them tips. Rent your own car and drive yourself to all the places. It is 1 highway and everything is EASY to find, this is much cheaper. You can rent a car for $50 a day at Avis right in the hotel. A Taxi anywhere is $25 one way. Cheaper to rent a car for the day.
If you are headed here, you will LOVE it!! just have your shield up and be ready to say NO from the get go! Happy travels!

Dear Jamie S,

It is an honor to read such a detailed description of your experience in our resort. We thank you for your preference and for the time invested to write this review. We are overjoyed to read that you emphasize the amazing service and friendliness of our staff, and catalogue the food, pools, Jacuzzi and rooms as amazing. Thank you mentioning that our facilities are awesome, these comments mean the world to us and we appreciate it greatly.

We appreciate your comments about the sales practices from some of our staff members, please be certain that it is not our intention to disturb our guests when offering our additional services. We will revise this practice and emphasize the correct training process. It is very important to mention that we do offer wine among our Unlimited-Luxury® inclusions, our house wine variety is available in all of our bars and restaurants, but it is true that we also offer an extensive wine list at additional costs for those guests who would like to enjoy a different variety during their stay. Other than that, we thank you again for your comments and make sure these have reached our Management.

We thank you for recommending our resort to future travelers, we feel eager to welcome them to offer a pleasant experience as well. Finally we do not want to miss the opportunity to let you know that we look forward to host you in our paradise one more time in the near future.

We loved the resort. We went there last year during labor day weekend. We are planning another visit to Cancun. If we get a good deal, I would return to the Secrets Silversands. The hotel/resort has a modern decor, very hip and cool. We loved that it's adults only, don't get me wrong, we love kids, but we like to relax and not have to listen to kids whine by the pool.
WARNING: Do not fall for the timeshare presentation at a neighboring resort. We wasted a whole day, had a lousy experience and would have had a better time relaxing by the pool with a drink at the resort we actually pad to stay at.
The staff was very hospitable and friendly, the shows at night were not broadway caliber but were amusing. We recommend the resort and would go back, again, do not fall for the timeshare vacation club con. YOU ARE WARNED

Room Tip: We did not upgrade to the ocean view and actually enjoyed the secluded pool by our building.

We stayed here for 7 nights to celebrate our Honeymoon. This resort is absolutely amazing. I must say a massive thank you to Nico from the entertainment team. He really went above and beyond to make us feel we were welcome and showed us a great time. A couple of pointers before you stay:
Men make sure you have long trousers and dress shoes (not obvious trainers) for dinners. The night time a fairly formal/smart casual dress ( i found out the day before I left to go so was a frantic rush to the shops for smart trousers). All the bar/waiting/room service staff really overstep the mark once you start tipping.

We had a swim out room. DO NOT get this confused with a swim up room. There is a couple of meters of grass with sun loungers before you hit the pool but to be honest we didn't even use this pool, we stayed by the main pool where the atmosphere was lively and friendly. We lasted 10 mins in our first room as it was not up to a clean standard and the housekeeping manager was to happy with her staff. We immediately got moved to a better room closer to all the action.

All the food was amazing. Especially our private dinner with customisable menu in the wine cellar. I think we got a few of the best plates from every place in the hotel. the sushi chef is amazing just tell him what you want and he does it. I could go on and on.

One thing I would say is that the spa and the hotel shops are very expensive. But you are on a resort where there is nothing really around you unless you get a cab out of there. If you smoke buy your cigarettes in duty free as I believe they are $9 per packet.

AMAZING PLACE. AMAZING STAFF (especially Nico), AMAZING FOOD,BRILLIANT SERVICE, VERY CLEAN in public areas. I

Room Tip: To be honest I wouldn't bother with a swim out as we didn't even use it.

We stayed in this resort March 2013. We have been travelling for a number of years and have done everything from condo time shares to cruises and many all inclusive stays in resorts categorized as 5 star or better. From the minute we arrived we knew we were in for a special holiday.
Upon arrival we were greeted warmly and professionally with a cool glass of champagne and fresh wet towel. Once given our room information we made our way to our room and discovered it was not cleaned yet so we returned to the front to let them know. Expecting to be told we'd just have to wait a bit until the maid had a chance to clean it, my husband went to get us a drink from the lobby bar. Before I even had a chance to approach the reception area I was once again greeted by the same gentleman who checked us in. When I explained our room was not ready he apologized and immediately offered us an upgrade to an oceanfront preferred club suite.
Our holiday only got better and better as the week went on. The staff in every department goes above and beyond what anyone could expect. Within a day or two restaurant and bar staff have noted what your favorites and preferences are and are quick to immediately offer them. Everything is done with a very genuine smile and desire to please.
Our room was gorgeous and the view was spectacular. Even views from the pool side rooms were gorgeous. I think rooms with the garden view in the same area as the spa may be a little quieter but we never noticed any extraordinary noise from the pool area where we were. The resort is just the perfect size. We've stayed in mega resorts that offer trolleys and golf carts to get around or you play rock paper scissors to see who has to go back to the room if you forgot something. This resort is a nice enough size they offer absolutely everything and not so small you feel confined.
The pools are clean and a very comfortable temperature especially the main pool with the swim up bar. The infinity pool is a little chilly but tolerable. Even at 98% hotel occupancy there was never a shortage of floating beds. The pool activities are a lot of fun. If you're not one to participate the Activity Staff are encouraging but do not nag you to join in. Then you can just sit back and be entertained. About once a week all the Chefs come out with various appetizers and wander the pool area sharing spectacular little treats. Two of them even got onto a kayak and paddled around the pool serving the people at the swim up bar. The hot tub is a great meeting place late afternoon. Not sure how many it actually holds but its huge and a great place to meet new people.
The beach area is very clean and well kept. Initially we didn't think it was that great for water activities but we've since learned that if you go out far enough, just before the big ledge, you can snorkel quite well and see lots of fish.
We cannot say enough about the restaurants and quality of food. As mentioned before we have been to a number of all inclusive resorts and the food at any of those cannot be compared to Silversands. We raise our own beef and have previously been in the restaurant business. These meals are fabulous and the chefs need to be commended. We had one small problem when we booked a private dinner for two (which you have to pay for). It was supposed to be in the private dining area but at the last minute we were given a booth in one of the restaurants. This was not private at all and somewhat disappointing. Although we tried not to let it ruin our dinner my husband did speak to the head concierge the next day. What was impressive was how it was dealt with. Following numerous apologies we were offered the opportunity for another dinner or an extension of our stay (which unfortunately we could not do because of commitments at home). No holiday is going to be without glitches and no resort can run 100% perfect all the time however it is all in how those problems are handled that make or break the holiday.
We had stayed at Secrets Wild Orchid in Jamaica a year prior and since we were equally as impressed with that resort we took the time to listen to the Vacation Club talk (we are not rookies and have been timeshare owners in the past). By the end of our holiday we were confident that we wanted to continue to vacation with Secrets and have joined. (If anyone wants to know about joining UVC I would be happy to let them know that if you are on top of things and know how to use it to it's potential, its worth it - but that is a completely different review).
Since March we have received a couple a personal emails from Secrets Silversands just in follow up of our stay - not automated advertisements but genuine inquiries as to whether we were happy with our stay. We also sent our son and his new wife there in August for their honeymoon. They were blown away with their treatment and pampering. They commented they felt like celebrities from the moment they arrived until their farewell. They've also received incredible personal touches from the staff. The day the got married there was a message on our home phone directly from the Concierge in the Resort wishing them the best on the day of their wedding and safe travels to Mexico as the staff at Silversands was awaiting their arrival.
We loved our stay, were impressed on every level and look forward to going back over and over.

Room Tip: There is not a bad room on the property. Pool or garden view rooms are just as pretty but waking up...

I go on vacation every 90 days. I have never been to Mexico. Long story short, I found Silversands on Bookit .com. I read many reviews on many different adults only resorts. The reviews on this resort were very honest, so here is mine. The staff was great, they were very friendly and helpful. The rooms were well appointed and modern. I had the partial ocean view. There are large pools all around the resort. If you want quiet, there is a pool. If you want to party, there is a pool. There is a pool for you, I promise. Plenty of towels, snack bar in your room refilled everyday and NO BILL at the end of your stay. Bars all around with top shelf liquors and more friendly staff. Breakfast was FANTASTIC. Food in general was good, portions small but filling. That was okay with me since we were eating all day. The restaurant by th pool I enjoyed the most. Look I could go on and on, but I have to work so I can go back. Readers, try it you'll like it.

Room Tip: partial ocean view rooms have a private pool

Everything is great in this resort.
Check-in is easy and fast even if they want tou book you in a 90 minutes presentation to surely sell you kind of timeshare or prefered club of their own. Even if it's a adults only resort, entertainment is at is best with the entertainment team especially with Ruben, Nico and Jackie.
There is 8 restaurants so you have a lot of choices each night. We liked Bordeaux (French), Portovino (Italian) and Himitsu (Japanese). We had a swimout suite but didn't use it at all because we were at the complete end of the resort. It was far from the lobby and main pool but also close because the resort is not that big.
For sure we will go again to the others Secrets resorts in Riviera Maya !!

Room Tip: Close to the main pool

Let me start off by saying a wonderful staff, great service and very good restaurants. We had a swim out room and it sounded like the whole resort was right there. The Silversands is a small resort and daytime activities focus on the main pool area. During 11:00 till 5:00 P.M. The activity director is yelling out dance, games, and drinking instructions with music turned up to the max. This is great for the 20 year old crowd, but a little over the top for a quieter get away. The nighty entertainment was below par to many resorts in the area. The rooms were cleans, but could do with an update.
