The resort was beautiful and had a very relaxing atmosphere.
Food was also very good our hats off to the Mediterranean restaurant the service and food where above all the others! Only complaint is the room could have been a little cooler we had a fan brought to our room for added comfort, also the sliding door to balcony is very heavy and there is no handle to Assist in entry to re-enter room from balcony.

My husband and I chose Secrets Silversands for our honeymoon destination based on the location, price and amenities. We were not disappointed! From the moment we arrived at the airport until we were dropped back off a week later, we had nothing short of an amazing experience with top-notch customer service.

Even prior to our trip, I emailed Secrets' customer service twice to ask questions and each time received a response within just a couple of hours. When you arrive at the resort, you're greeted with a glass of champagne and a moist towel. We chose a swim-out suite, and the view was spectacular. Based on the photos online, we had assumed the swim-out suite pool was a "lazy river" type that would connect to the main pool, but it actually does not. All of the swim-out suites have their own semi-private pools, which ended up being really nice on the day that we were too sunburnt to stray away from our patio area!

The wait staff is incredibly friendly, and most of them are very good with their English. If you're from the South in the US, you'll feel like you're at home with people telling you hello (Hola!) wherever you go. It's a really nice and welcoming atmosphere. There is plenty to do around the resort, even if you don't go for an off-site excursion. They have yoga, Spanish lessons, games, and other activities daily, as well as shows at night in the theatre. We particularly enjoyed the "Rock Show" and "Sensual Cirque" shows – they have some very talented people!

The food is wonderful. Our favorites were Portofino, Ratatouille (the duck - oh my gosh, so good), Oceana and World Cafe – but they're all great. We didn't have one bad meal the entire time we were there, and we both packed on a few pounds indulging in the appetizers and desserts. You'll notice that the portion sizes are much smaller than you'd get at a regular restaurant, but we never felt like we were hungry (you'll just want to order your own appetizer and dessert, instead of trying to share). We weren't prepared to tip when we arrived, so my one bit of advice is to make sure you bring money for tips because it is definitely encouraged.

We did the Coba/Tulum all-day excursion, and it was really great. Be prepared to be gone ALL DAY though, and the ride to the ruins is about 2-2.5 hours from the resort. We also did the couples massage by the beach, which I highly recommend. You'll want to wear a bathing suit if you go to the spa, because the hour before your treatment you have free reign of the facility – a large, heated pool with lots of different jet options; steamroom/suana; whirlpool; water beds and more.

Our only complaints the whole time we were at Secrets Silversands was that we felt our room didn't quite get as cold as we wanted them to at night (the comforter is pretty heavy, so when we used it we both woke up sweating, but after that we just used our sheet and we were both fine) – and the lighting in the room was a little dim for my taste. When we would get ready at night I felt like it was hard to see sometimes, but during the day with the blinds open it was just fine. You also may want to bring some large hair clips or other clipping device (chip clips would work too) to clip your drapes together so they don't let in any sunlight in the mornings.

Overall, it was absolutely amazing. The next time we take an all-inclusive trip, I will definitely be looking at Secrets as our top choice.

Room Tip: We did not get to choose our room, but we had a swim-out suite in the 4000 building and it was perfe...

My husband and another couple just returned from Secrets. We love Mexico and have previously stayed at Dreams (owned by same resort) in Cancun and Cabo. Secrets is very similar to Dreams down to the restaurants and entertainment. The big difference is no children which makes for a very different vacation! The resort is beautiful, the pools are excellent, the service is friendly and good, and the rooms are luxurious, huge and spotless. We spent most of our time on the beach and enjoyed it very much. It does have a rocky bottom in places but there are several sandy areas that provide easy access and the somewhat rocky areas make for excellent snorkeling. We didn't think the food was quite as good as at Dreams -- several times we had beef that was tough, but overall it was very, very good for an all inclusive. Now for the rocky start... when we arrived, we waited about 20 minutes to check in, which was fine, as there was a large party ahead of us who had been waiting over an hour. When we got to check in, our rooms weren't ready. Which is fine, we got some lunch and came back an hour later. We were shown where our room was located on the resort map and given a key. I asked for a second and was told there were none available and to come back tomorrow. (Really? These are the basic access cards that you can re-program). Ok, fine. There was no one to show us to our room but we easily found it on our own. When we walked in, we thought we had no electricity. As it turned out, you need to insert your room key in a slot to turn on power for the room! We had never expereienced this. Then we realized with only one key, if one of us went out, the other would have no power or would have to stick around to let the other person back in! I picked up the resort brochure I had been given and discovered it was in Spanish. All ends well, we were able to easily pick up another key when we went up for dinner but after a long trip to get there, it was not a very good start.

Room Tip: We were in Building 2 which was very quiet. Our friends in Building 4 heard the live entertainment e...

Thank you for your time to provide this feedback of your visit, this is very important for us in order to identify our opportunity areas and improve them.

We apologize for the discomfort caused by the brochure provided in a different language and for the fact to receive only one room key, we have immediately corrected this to avoid future incidences.

Thank you for your kind comments about the facilities, the pools and the staff service.

This was our first visit to Secrets Silversands and it was fantastic. We have been to other resorts (Excellence, Iberostar Grand), and by far this resort had the best food. Loved the way the staff was proactive to ensure your visit is excellence. The restaurant hosts would ask if there were any problems with our room, resort, etc., of course there wasn't any issues, but it was nice to be asked. The activity staff was excellent, Dulce with her Spanish lessons and bike rides, Dani and Jorge doing aqua aerobics, Stefani for the beach walk and Bingo, and we can't forget Rangoon for the Texas Hold em. I would also like to give a shout out to Erik in the El Patio restaurant for a very enjoyable evening. We can't wait to return.

We just returned from our stay at the Secrets Silversands (5-6-13/5-12-13).

I stayed at the Secrets wild orchid in Jamaica in 2010 so I was familiar with the Secrets brand and thought the easy, fun atmosphere they offer would be great for a honeymoon. I researched the different Secrets resorts and ultimately settled on Silversands. They biggest tip I learned via trip advisor is that the SSS beach is a tad rocky in the water so you should bring water shoes (the dry sand itself is perfectly fine and there is plenty of it).

Oh, and tidbit: If you are looking for an all inclusive... Secrets is adults only, Dreams is kids < 12, NOW is kids > 12.

We purchased through an online travel company which included airport transfer. We arrived in Cancun and headed OUTSIDE the airport and found the flowered apple shirts. This time around we tried the prefered package (didnt try this in Jamaica). The nice thing about Prefered is you are taken directly to your hotel (whereas the other people in our transport van had to wait).

It was a few hours (2) before our room was ready so we hung in the preferred lounge trying snacks and drinking mojitos... we also could have wandered to the beach or pool, we just chose to sip in an air conditioned environment while we waited.

Our fourth floor room was lovely. Large, clean, no odor, and so ocean front you could see nothing else. The hitch, the AC is on if all doors are closed. So if we left the beach door open, the AC would shut off and it would be warm muggy when we returned later. It chilled quickly, I just needed to remember to shut the door. The water was hot and had good pressure. The bathroom lighting was sufficient.

Our room was replenished daily with soda, beer, water, orange juice, mini shooters of vodka, whisky and rum (prefered package bonus). We also had candy, nuts, chips each day. One person does not do all of that however. One day we stayed in and it surprised me that there was a person for cleaning the room, one for refiling the fridge, and one for restocking snacks/etoh. It was a lot of people coming and going in a room.

The food: The world cafe at SSS is much smaller than Jamaica, and much larger that in Maroma. They offer all forms of protein (served fried and at times non-fried), many cheeses, fruits, juices, pastries, smoothies. You really can find something for anyone there.

Additionally we tried the French, the Italian, Japanese, and I think the Mediterannean. It was all very tasty and offered a variety of proteins. We also took advantage of the unlimited room service which had some nice selections as well. Oh, and my favorite is the Coco cafe for coffee with baileys. So good.

Some of our activities:
- we went to a "90 minute" (actually 120 minutes) talk at the Maroma Secrets to earn 75 apple dollars towards an excursion. It was actually nice to see the maroma beach (it truly is breathtaking so if a beach is the MOST important thing, that is where you should stay). The talk was very low key until the last ten minutes when they pushed and sulked after we wouldnt purchase a membership. Next time I will request more than 75 dollars to go to one of those talks.
- Chichen Itza: we used the 75 dollars to offset the cost to this magical place. Note: 2 hour drive one way so be prepared, and wear shoes to walk in. It was beautiful to see. We also did some shopping with the locals (you are expected to barter), and finished it off with a trip to the Cenotes.
- Xcaret: a zoo/aquariam/ecological extravaganza. We snorkeled underground rivers, saw many forms of wildlife, and saw many shows including the flying men, horseback shoes, the famous dinner production etc.

- At secrets silversands we spent our time wading the pools, sleeping in hammocks, salsa dancing, reading on the beach in cabanas, walking the beach/water, beach soccer, movies on the beach at night, catching the evening entertainment shows which were great. There are many more activities offered, these were just the ones we made it to.

- Also, the gym is nice. Many treadmills, elipiticals, free weights and other contraptions I dont know how to use, all overlooking a beautiful green wild expanse.

- The things I wish would have been in place: Drink menus. I am not much of a drinker, so when provided unlimited options, I have no idea what to suggest, so some fun drink selections would have helped. I did learn about White Sands which are great (coconut cream, lime and gin, blended frozen... so good). Also, coke light is not diet coke. It is calorie free yes, but for a true Diet Coke lover, its not the same. And though I was careful in what I ate, some days my stomach just did not know what to do, so I would suggest bringing anti-nausea medicine if you have access.

Lastly, the staff was truly warm and welcoming. They encouraged participation in activities, and overall added to our experience.

We plan to return a third time to a secrets resort in the future.

This was our third visit in 3 years to Secrets Silversands. I had wanted to try a different resort this year but my Fiancé insisted on Silversands. We had a great time! One day at breakfast, I said to the hostess, 'We are trying to think of something to complain about.' She got a very serious look on her face but then my Fiancé said, 'We're just kidding. This place is wonderful and we have no complaints.' This year, we did the Romantic Dinner on the beach. It was incredible! Spectacular view, great service (thanks again, Antonio!) and good food. We could not have asked for more but then we got back to our room for a special surprise of a rose petal heart on the bed and a scented bubble bath.

We noted improvements since last year. The evening entertainment has stepped up a couple of notches with a very nice live band and professional shows most nights. Jorge and his entertainment crew of Dany, Dulce and the rest have an incredible amount of energy and obviously love their job. Leon from The Spa was able to convince my Fiancé to try a Couples Massage on the beach. He loved it!

We plan to return next year for our honeymoon. We would love to get married there but we have teenagers in the family so we will go next door to the family-oriented Azul Sensatori but after will have some adults only time at Silversands.

The only 'improvement' my Fiancé would like is to have NBA basketball games on the TV in the room. However, I'm OK with having to go to the Desires Sports Bar for the games.

Can hardly wait for our next visit to Secrets Silversands.

Room Tip: Stayed in Preferred Building 3, top floor. Great view, quiet and private.
