“Nearly as good as Harry's in the old days!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 18, 2013

We came here on a wet Wednesday lunchtime-not expecting too much as we'd visited the branch in Wetherby itself and been a bit disappointed. First impressions-bins outside overflowing-was it from the night before-to be honest the car park was a bit litter strewn too. Soldiered on and we were glad that we did. Had the senior's Christmas lunch, 3 very good courses for £11.25 plus a sherry and a cracker!! Food top class, service impeccable and cheerful, ambiance restored to the glory days except with a massive update of the toilets-first class. I mentioned the litter to the manager and to be fair it was immediately cleared up-but why let it get like that in the first place?

“Poor quality indifferent staff”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 9, 2013 via mobile

Our chips were so small and hard the could of been mistaken for scraps. When we complained the manager just said it was because of the small potatos they used!! Eventually a part refund was given. Bitterly disappointed!

“V good fish and chips”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 1, 2013

We were a party of 13 including 3 children, the oldest being 3 years old. We had booked a table and were served very efficiently with the food arriving within a very short amount of time. The batter is really quite thin with tasty fish. Delicious ice cream for desert. Trifle and brandy snap ice cream were highly praised. OAP deal is £8.25 for three courses.

“Really good value for money!!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 19, 2013

The Wetherby Whaler at Guiseley has undergone a fantastic transformation from a down at heel chippie (the previous owners had let things slip a lot from when it was originally Harry Ramsdens) to a re-incarnation of what the interior of this fabulous restaurant looked like. Ornate glass chandeliers and plaster mouldings give it a feeling of opulence. The Seniors menu consists of either fruit juice or soup, we have had tomato, celery, chicken and carrot & coriander on the 4 occasions we have visited. Then there is a choice of haddock, plaice or scampi with chips, I have always had the haddock which is beautifully cooked in a great batter, the fish is beautiful and flaky and not greasy at all, on all the occasions I have eaten there I have never seen a trace of grease or fat on my plate when finished. My wife likes the scampi which is another good portion and again cooked to perfection. The puddings are great too, rhubarb crumble, peach crumble and even ice cream with jam!!! We will certainly continue to visit.

“Amazing atmosphere and amazing food.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 18, 2013

Stopped here for tea on a Sunday afternoon as my husband is a massive fish and chip fan, and although we have lived in the area for years have never actually visited.
We were not disappointed, the place is beautifully decorated with the most gorgeous chandaliers.
The service was quick and friendly, and we were not waiting long at all. The fish and chips were cooked to perfection and were absolutely delicious. The portion sizes were very generous and excellent value for money.
The Gentleman playing the piano was excellent creating a relaxed, laid back and pleasant atmosphere to eat in. Will definitely be going back.
