What a wonderful resort in a lovely location - we spent a couple of nights here while on safari and had a very memorable time. The food was very good as were the facilities and service - and of course the wild life was fantastic. We look forward to our next visit!

Dear guest,

The Sarova Shaba family is very encouraged by your feedback. Indeed the game viewing in this eco-system is unmatched. Three parks on the same park fee ticket ( Shaba, Buffalo springs and Samburu) and with completely varying in vegetation and terrain but with tha same unique game in the Samburu special five! You cannot go wrong.

We are looking forward to hosting you at the earliest.

Cheers!

This lodge is in a class of its own. The staff are very friendly and for the last 3 years i have always spent my xmas there. I love the place The lodge is by the river and we had a Boma dinner where we were taken to the bush for dinner with Bonfire allover. At 1900 hrs we always go to feed the crocodiles

We stayed here while on a tour of Kenya with Liberty Africa Safari. Sarova Shaba was spectacular. The rooms were spacious and clean. The hotel was beautiful and the views were like no other!! We had a baboon outside our window throwing figs! The staff was very helpful and friendly and the food was delicious - we never a meal we didn't like. Their was one waiter, Paul, who waited on us frequently and he was very friendly and always wanted to chat about our trip and our country.
At night they put the mesquito net around your bed, but to be honest we did not have an problems with bugs. It does get warm at night and there is no A/C, but the ceiling fan does a good job.
The pool was great and was nice for a cool off after our game drives.
We stayed two nights and wished we could have stayed longer. The game drives at Shaba were amazing, we saw so many animals. I would recommend this place and the Shaba for game drives - we stayed a lot of places while in Kenya and this was hard to beat!

Myself and my husband stayed at the Sarova Shaba Lodge in February 2013. We believe our stay was a little unusual due to the fact we stayed there for 13 nights, while the majority of people use the hotel for a few nights while they are out on safari.

After reading all the comments about the hotel we can only agree and honestly say that our stay was nothing but perfect!!! From the service to the cleanliness, the food to the surroundings, this place is truly unbelievable. We had the place to ourselves most of the time and the staff couldn’t do enough for us.

We had booked a standard room but when we arrived we asked to see the Born Free suite. The extra space and Jacuzzi were definitely worth the extra money and it just added to our experience. While we were there we went on 3 safaris, 2 of which were organised through the hotel. Although it was nice to go out and about on our own we saw a lot more when we had a guided tour. We also had the chance to experience a few treatments and massages overlooking the river, which was heaven. The scenery was truly breath-taking, and the weather was amazing, although at times it was too hot to sunbathe.

We also took a look at the hotel vegetable garden, it was lovely to see that a lot of the food we were eating was grown on site. The staff were also happy to take us to the helicopter pad so we could have a good view of the stars. We also had dinner in the bushes and breakfast overlooking the pond.

We cannot recommend this hotel enough. If you are looking for somewhere to really escape Sarova Shaba Lodge is the perfect place.

Dear guest,

It is very nice to see your very warm feedback on your stay at Sarova Shaba. Indeed your stay with us was very unique and we actually felt it when you left. We were used to having you with us.

Shaba, Buffalo springs and Samburu National reserves are unique in their own way. Situated next to each other and accessible on the same park fee ticket gives guests the very unique opportunity to do the game drives in the three parks with very different terrain. This can make the options wider and thus the stay could be longer.

Shaba National reserve being unique to film makers, had unmatched beauty allowing for various extra activities apart from the game drives like ' a gorge treck' and a visit to ' The Sharinki falls'.

In this eco-system, the 'Samburu special five' are not to be missed ( Reticulated giraffe, Gravy zebra, The gerenuk, Beisa oryx and the Somali ostrich). The park also rich with Lions, Leopards and Cheeters makes gave viewing that special.

Sarova Shaba is actually an oasis as it is located on a spring with beautiful fish ponds and streams of clear water continuously flowing into the Ewaso nyiro river as we are on its banks. I am sure these also worked in making your two week stay special because it works for us here.

We feel a sense of pride having your very warm and encouraging remarks and we do hope to host you hopefully in the near future.

Kind regards.

We did stay here 2 nights during a safari trip with Africa Vetarnas Safaris . We ask a connection lodge because we travelled with our 2 children ( 8 and 10 yo) . The welcome was very warm and the lodges did meet our expectations ! The variations of the (buffet) meals is the only item for extra attention... This issue was fully compensated by the vey special experience that we had during our last dinner ... We received a nice a la carte service with the attention of all the available staff .. Because we were the lucky and only family in the hotel that day :-)
Beside the restaurant staff also the ones at the reception and resposible for the rooms were very pro-active and helpfull.

Room Tip: Connecting lodges are ideal when travelling with children

This was a beautiful lodge down one of the roughest dirt roads. All the rooms overlook the river where you can watch to crocs below. And the monkeys are entertaining in the trees. The rooms are very spacious are so nice to comeback too after a day of game driving. The food and service is outstanding as are all the sarova lodges. Laundry is taken care of yeh!. The game park close to here was amazing we saw 2 cheetah kills that were very hard to witness but when you see three little cubs come out for a feed you accept nature for what it is.amazing.

Dear guest,

Thank you for your feedback on your Sarova Shaba visit. Indeed it is quite encouraging to the team here.

The 8km dirt road from the Isiolo-Marsabit highway to the lodge is being attended to by the local authorities. As it is now, one can make it with a saloon car to the lodge.

The game drives in the area too a special. I am sure you were privilaged to see the unique Samburu special 5 (Reticulated giraffe, Gravy zebra, Somali ostrich, Gerenuk and the Beisa oryx) to add to the two cheetah kill 'spiced' with its cubs. This cannot be any more special.

The Sarova Shaba team looks forward to hosting you once again and assures you of yet another memorable 'restful' stay.

Kind regards

5 of us booked in for 2 weeks. Made to feel really welcome. Great staff. Interestingly by day some were security and by night became tribal dancers. Great use of manpower. Pool always clean and inviting. Chemi Chemi bar always stocked. Rooms were great and tool the ones far from the lodge to the right as you look at the Uaso. Monkeys very skilled at getting in so be alert. The car park is safe and they offer a good puncture repair service! We had several. The management were always at hand. We saw a large variety of game from the lodge but game drives were best towards sundown. Watch the curfew timings or you will be locked out!
