Vritomartis is quite difficult to get to but well worth the effort. WE flew into Heraklion and hired a car and drove accross Crete to get to the hotel. The rooms and meals at the hotel are excellent and the staff all extremely friendly.
The local villages are great to look around and if you want a night out or meal away from the hotel there are many places to choose from. The hotel runs a bus into the local village so no need to drive. From the village (Hora Skafia) you can get a ferry to other villages (we went to Loutro which was lovely for a meal).
Vritomartis is a great place for a relaxing holiday if you like nudist holidays.

Just returned from a week at this resort. We found the accommodation to be stunning (a studio on the upper floor of one of the bungalows) with windows and doors on all four sides, overlooking the ocean. The facilities were excellent, the staff very attentive, professional and fully participating. The rooms were spotless and kept that way throughout our stay. The food was buffet style but changed daily, with good variety. We thought the meals were very good value. We liked the style of the resort and the easy manner for a naturist resort. Good services to the beach and into Chora Safakia. The evening entertainment (2 nights) was adequate. Perhaps that could be worked on a bit. Overall, we were very satisfied with our stay.

What a wonderful place!
We drove from Chania in daylight over spectacular mountains. The road has largely been renewed and is not as hair raising as some previous reviewers have found. However I would not consider doing this journey after dark.

The hotel itself has a lovely friendly atmosphere, no doubt initiated by the friendly and efficient staff, but also helped by a good bunch of fellow guests. As first time naturists this was a real benefit to us. At no time did we the slightest bit self conscious.
We had a Superior Bungalow with Sea View, with air conditioning and fridge included.Whilst the room was basic it had everything we needed and was spotlessly clean. In a place like this why would you want to spend much time in the room?

Breakfast was very good, with a good selection to cater for most tastes. We had lunch several times at the beach bar where you can get a nice simple salad or omelette.
Dinner was taken on the outside terrace. The salads were excellent but the main couses we did not always find to be as good, but that may just be our preference.

We spent most days at the beach which was delightful, much better than it looks in the photos. It is stony so you need some form of footwear. There is no sand to get in places you don't want it! The sea was crystal clear and beautiful to swim in. There are also two or three other naturist beaches nearby (not connected to the hotel).
The pool and garden area was very nice too, very clean and with more shade than on the beach. On occasions there were not enough sunbeds, but the lush grass was comfortable enough anyway.
We went on the naturist boat trip which was great fun, largely due to Elena, who is a real asset to the hotel.
Would we go back? Definately!

Vritomartis is an oasis on the coast just outside Chora Sfakion. as you come out of the mountain pas syou can see the green area below you.

the hotel is pleasently greek in design reception welcoming and all the staff friendly and polite without an exception.

we stayed in one of the rooms above the bar with the extra large balcony. nice space nice basic but very clean room,
incredibly hard bed!
unfortunately if you are an early to bed type this room will not suit you as evening entertainments go on till midnight on a few nights
the outlying buildings are probabaly a better bet, more quiet ( except blocks 8 & 9)

Breakfast is held in the dining room, relaxed and help yourself buffet. quite extensive compared to some places

dinner is outside on the terrace for most days unless the wind becomes too strong. this is one of the things that we didnt enjoy.
Because of the "mature" clientel by 1930 they are all chomping at the bit for food. circling the terrace like vultures and at the given nod, all take off like the start of the Grand National ( Classic English horse race)
the food for dinner is varied and the salads are a meal in themselves let alone the hot courses although there is a slight lack of classic Greek cusisne but as its a buffet I guess not possible that easily.
as guests ar on half board you pay only for your wine, water etc
Lunch is a relaxed affair at the pool bar, light and leisurly with the ever present Manalo on duty. good salads is all we can say as thats all we partook before a siesta on the sunbed in the shade of course.

the grounds are naturist, the pool area very well appointed with plenty of space and trees for shade if required ( we had a special spot which served us well but will not be sharing it here as we want it again next year!!)

the beach is a short walk away on a neo public/private road, it can be done naked if you are so inclined. the beach is pebbly but refreshing compared to the pool.
the pool is cleaned every day with showers to get rid of some of your sun cream before swimming, we tried to be healthy to counter the food consumption and aimed to swim 20 - 30 lengths a day, but goggles became greas every day from teh sun cream element inthe water.

beware of the wasps which like the guests cool off in the pool by the steps.

entertainment. Irene is a little spanish star but has one hell of a struggle to drum up any enthusiasm on waterpolo petanque or darts amongst others, she accepts this and excels at the trips through the gorges and the weekly naturist boat trip. we only did the latter and loved it, a day out, 3 beaches, a lovely lunch in Loutro and all for the bargin of EUR 56 per person all drinks included.

in summary apart from the beds and some of the other guests we loved it, we'll be back next year.

to all the staff: "thank you" 10 -10-10

We spent a week here and had a wonderful time.

The hotel is quite simple but clean, friendly and it has everything you need. The food was good and the poolside bar was fantastic for lunch time snacks.

It's quite isolated so you really need to hire a car.

The pool was lovely, busy but quiet and always relaxing.

The private beach was a bit of a walk and it's not the most beautiful beach in the world, but then we quite like the pool side anyway.

Only thing that seemed strange to me, was this is a naturist hotel, but you have to dress inside the hotel, which meant you had to dress to walk from your room to the pool in the morning, just to undress again - this did seem a little strange!
