“3rd visit and not disappointed”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 11, 2014

Went with a friend for a catch up and both had the special 3 course meal with wine. All courses were lovely, presentation excellent and served by very pleasant and efficient staff. What more could you ask for. We will return.

“great food and service”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 4, 2014

Met up with friends and family of 6 for a catch up, brought our brother here previously and when he was back in the country he chose to meet up again at the White Lead. Have always chosen from the main menu but we all decided to go with the set menu as it had such a good choice/variation of food. For starters we had stuffed mushrooms, thai fish cake and black pudding and poached egg all delicious.. my brother would have liked a bit bigger portion of the black pudding . The main course's were chosen and the steaks were very good value for money and cooked to perfection, the herb crusted cod with crushed potatoes and green was fantastic, big chunk of cod which was beautifully cooked. One of the other guests had the pork chop on mash and another had the chicken in barbecue sauce again all clean plates at the end. Only 5 of the 6 managed the desserts and again good range of choices . Always been unsure of the set menu to be honest don't let this stop you because the quality of food, the presentation of the food on the plates, the staff and the overall value for money was superb. The surroundings are very nice too very comfortable and very pleasant. Very enjoyable night! well done bringing a lovely place to eat in Jarrow/Hebburn with fresh food, meat and vegetables rather than the pre prepared previously cooked reheated food that is provided from the local pubs...thank you

“Perfect Mother's Day”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 1, 2014

I booked this about 3 weeks before Mother's Day as I figured it was a fabulous place to take my wonderful mam. I was not disappointed. Everyone dining was given a complimentary glass of bucks fizz on arrival which I thought was a lovely touch to mark Mother's Day. I must have had the same idea as others as the place was full by 12.30, so glad I booked in advance! The menu was gorgeous, plenty of selections to suit all palates and we opted for stuffed mushroom and prawn and cray fish salad, both amazing and presented as always beautifully. For main we chose beef and pork, again the presentation was fantastic and this came with a side order of beautiful vegetables. The meat, Yorkshire and gravy were absolutely beautiful, the whole plate was just full of freshness, quality and flavour. For dessert we both chose the eton mess made with Chambord. Absolutely and I mean absolutely delightful. We finished with a latte and a normal coffee. I have to say a special mention to Hannah our waitress who was amazing, nothing was too much trouble and service with a smile each time she visited our table. I do hope your manager reads this as you really are very good at your job. Everything was absolutely perfect and you all made Mother's Day very special indeed for me and my mam. Thank you.

“Lovely meal, nice atmosphere.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 1, 2014

Pretty full for a Monday evening but a lot of people were taking advantage of 'Monday night is Steak night'! Great starters, I had black pudding, poached egg and pepper sauce, the wife had stuffed mushrooms. We both had steaks, thrice fried chips and sauces. Nice bottle of Chardonnay and two pints of cider and change from £35. Well pleased!

“ Sunday lunch”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 30, 2014 via mobile

Our fourth visit for food, this time for Sunday lunch, once again thoroughly enjoyable! Pate with home made chutney, chicken and vegetable soup and garlic mushroom to start. Roast beef and roast pork delicious, with piping hot selection of vegetables. Excellent value with friendly service throughout! We will continue to visit and hope it continues to be a success!
