“Fantastic stay and great food”
Reviewed April 29, 2013 via mobile

Stayed for 2 nights on a groupon deal. Found the staff to be welcoming and friendly without being overbearing. Shown to room which although small had everything we needed and and was quaint. Well doctorated and tasteful, being was very clean and beds very comfortable, carpet felt and looked new. Room had a cosy traditional feeling which is what we wanted and in keeping with traditional country inn.
Ate in the bar one evening, had some really tasty food, all fresh but served quickly. Also had a Sunday lunch there the following day, it was to die for, would recommend the roast lamb. The staff throughout we're so nice and that makes a real difference to the stay.
Not far from Kirkby Stephen, some nice shops, pubs and restaurants in the market town and lots of walks to enjoy. We drove to, ulswater, bowness and Windermere about an hour away.
Had a really nice time and can not fault our stay or meals at this place. Thank you so much!

We stayed at the Nateby Inn for two nights (Sat/Sun). An extremely welcoming Inn with attentive staff. Our room was clean, comfortable and well presented, Nateby as a village is very small so we walked into Kirby Stephen were we found a couple of 'local' pubs.(about 20 mins stroll). We booked a table at the Inn for Saturday night which was a good idea as the restaurant was full. Dinner was exceptional, great selection and quality topped with a wonderful bottle of Rioja.

Breakfast on Sunday was a full traditional English, with cereal toast etc etc.

On Sunday we ventured back into Kirby Stephen, eating in an outstanding Indian 'Mango Tree' and back to the Inn for a quiet night cap.

Overall we had a lovely couple of days and nights at the Nateby and would have no problem recommending it.

We stayed at the Nateby Inn for one night at the weekend and it was delightful. We arrived slightly before check-in time and had a drink in the bar while waiting for our room to be ready. The bar is like a traditional old bar with beams on the ceilings, rustic decorations, lots of old photographs and pictures, and a fireplace. Very homely, cosy feeling. Nateby itself is very small, but you can walk to the nearby village of Kirkby Stephen easily, where you will find more shops and a few more inns/pubs. The Nateby Inn is a great base if you like going out walking, and want somewhere warm, comfy and cosy to retire to afterwards. We had dinner in the restaurant, which was delicious (would recommend the steak). Our room was clean and very comfortable. Throughout our stay the service was tremendous.

Our room was pretty with everything you need to make your stay special, the bed was so comfortable with a quilt that just snuggled round you,and it was very clean.
We also had a meal which was fantastic, but I would also say you must try the hot chocolate.I won't spoil the suprise because you need to go to try it.It is chocolate heaven.Breakfast is everything you need to set you up for the day.
Thank you Gaynor and the team for a lovely weekend. We will be back

We booked accommodation at this Pub on the basis of very good "Trip Advisor" ratings and we were not disappointed. The owners and staff were friendly and welcoming and went out of their way to make our stay enjoyable. Our on suite room was compact but nicely furnished. The bedding and towels were of a high quality and everything was impeccably clean.
During our stay we sampled Sunday lunch and breakfast and both meals were of a high standard. We were accompanied by our Westie dog and we have rarely experienced such a dog friendly establishment. Give the Nateby Inn a visit and we are sure you will be impressed.

Would like to give a big thank you to all the team at The Nateby Inn. My husband and I arrived to be greeted with a lovely warm welcome. We were shown to our room which was delightful. Newly decorated through out and the most luxurious bedding and towels I've ever used. The bed was a literal dream, I had the best two nights sleep I've had in a long while. We had both breakfast and evening meal twice during our stay and I cannot praise the food enough. Being a chef, i'm quite critical when i eat out, but i cannot fault the food in any way. I had lamb belly and my husband had the Nateby homemade burger, crumble(best custard I've ever tasted) ,cheese and biscuits. The second night surpassed the first, with a beef dinner for myself and my husband had fish and chips with the secret recipe beer batter, to die for.
This family run business is one I will be recommending to all my friends and family. Great walks and the setting is amazing.
I cant wait to go back.

Room Tip: If you'd prefer your own company, this family also have two beautiful cottages they let out.

We were given our two-night stay at the Nateby Inn by friends who, unfortunately for them, couldn't go at the last minute. Our stay there was really enjoyable and the welcome from Gaynor, Nick and their team was second to none. The pub is comfortable, very welcoming and the food good. It is an ideal spot for walkers, as you can step out of the gate in the car park straight onto a footpath. It's also within easy access to the lakes with beautiful scenery all the way. Although the Inn is alone in Nateby, Kirby Stephen is only a mile or so away where there are shops etc.

Thank-you to all for making our stay so pleasant.
