I stayed after my perfect wedding day which was held at the old mill.
Nothing was too much trouble, I felt that fantastic feeling that it was my special day.
The rooms are clean and breakfast was just right.
The food served for my wedding was fabulous and all the guests commented on how great it was.
If you Want that personal touch with that special day just for you feeling I would recommend the old mill .
It was just fantastic

We stayed for two nights over the weekend. It's the first time we have taken advantage of an online deal and to be perfectly honest we really didn't know what to expect. We arrived on Friday afternoon and we were greeted by Gary at the door. We were shown to our room (room 3) and it was nice, basic admittedly but very clean and that's what counts. Unfortunately the kitchen extractor fan is directly below the window of that room but Gary explained that it is switched off by 9.30pm and it's not switched on in the morning until they know that guests staying in room 3 are up and about. We thought this was thoughtful as they must recognise it might be a problem for guests. To be honest, it didn't bother us at all regardless of whether it was on or off but we would probably request a different room in the future. Saying that, the bed was huge and extremely comfortable.
Location wise it's lovely. The hotel itself is out of the way and surrounded by gorgeous countryside yet it's close enough to Scarborough (25 mins), Bridlington etc. if you fancy a day out. The seating area outside is well looked after, a pretty floral display including hanging baskets which looks lovely. We were lucky with the weather so enjoyed sitting outside with a pint. Or two...
We ate in the restaurant on both evenings. The food was really excellent and we both thoroughly enjoyed it. Good quality and generous portions, we would make the trip for the food alone.
The staff are all friendly and efficient and we wouldn't hesitate in recommending this hotel if you're looking for somewhere to just chill out and relax. Even the resident Labradors are uber mellow, not that you see them THAT often. Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

To Tripadvisor: As the bride and groom of this wedding we were extremely hurt to return from our honeymoon to find the review 'friendly but cramped' has been posted. Most upsetting is that the aspects commented on are, albeit unknowingly, an unfair reflection of the Old Mill as the decisions/aspects commented on were made at our request and against venue recommendations. For instance, it was us that insisted on the numbers above the Old Mill's recommendation - to enable us to have ALL the people that we care so much about with us on our special day; it was us that requested no welcome drinks; an outside smoking area; a small dance area; and us that insisted on the alternative seating plan to avoid a 'top table' traditional layout, for important personal reasons. The Old Mill went out of their way to accomodate our unorthodox requests that did result in the desired more intimate setting we specificaly wanted. We could go on as, sadly, each negative comment is actually a reflection on the decisions we made - against the advice of this venue. It is us that have caused such upset to one of our guests and not the Old Mill and we our obviously terribly upset about this - no one wants to discover that their wedding day has been unpleasant for someone they care about in this way, but worse discover that a venue that have been so wonderful to us have been wrongly judged on decisions that were ours not theirs- we feel terrible. Please, please remove this post or ask the person who wrote to reconsider now they understand it was us at fault, not the venue: it is unfair for the Old Mill to be judged on the decisions we made as a couple. They were kind enough to accomodate our alternative requests against their recommendations and, for us, to create the most perfect, perfect day that exceeded all our expectations.

We recently attended a wedding reception here and we thoroughly enjoyed the whole event. The staff were very friendly and helpful and nothing was too much for them. I can honestly say that the food was excellent, there was definately no scrimping on quality and everyone else commented about how good it was, which when you consider that this was a sit down three course meal with almost sixty guests, I can only say "BRAVO" to the chef. There was more than enough food for everyone and it was all served hot, and the Yorkshire puddings are to die for. There was a small band that played during the afternoon and then a disco during the evening which certainly kept everyone on the dance floor until the very last song. The venue itself is a very warm and friendly place set in the beautiful Yorkshire countryside and we all thought it was the perfect place to share such a perfect day with friends and family. We will definately be coming back. Well done to all.

After reading "rosebudBridlington's" review i felt i had to say a few words! I stayed at the old mill for 2nights for my sister’s wedding.

I was really impressed with the rooms; they were very spacious with a lovely big comfortable bed and nicely decorated. The rooms included wardrobe with plenty of hangers, dressing table with hair dryer, tea, coffee and biscuits. The bathroom was kitted out with cotton buds and balls ect and the shower was one of the best I’ve had.

The food was delicious, we had an evening meal on the Friday, which was lovely and I did feel a little spoilt for choice. For the wedding breakfast I had the crab cakes, roast pork and lemon torte then tucked into my dad’s cheesecake which was all extremely lovely! At breakfast we were all very well looked after by Gary and the girls, someone was always around with extra toast and taking orders of tea coffee and cooked breakfast, all the plates went back empty which says something!

I was amazed at how clean the whole hotel was from our rooms to the toilets in the bar, I run a domestic cleaning company and it is my job to see dirt that the average eye doesn't. I have full praise for the cleaning team at The Old Mill they must work hard to keep the place the way they do.

The service was outstanding! Gary and Cathie went out of their way for us all, nothing was a problem and they were both lovely to talk to.

There was more people sat for dinner than Cathy and Gary would have normally catered for but they agreed to our numbers so we could have everyone close to us there to celebrate. Having the round 'top table' situated in the middle of the room was the bride and grooms choice and I believe it worked really well as they could be among us all instead of tucked away at the top of the room.

location was quiet with lovely surroundings, I went on a long walk in the morning to work of the breakfast so i could fit into my dress, this was nice to be able to do without having to get into the car.

I would highly recommend The Old Mill and would say to anyone thinking of holding their wedding reception here that there couldn't be anyone happier to help than Gary and Cathy they really went out of their way to cater for all the bride and grooms needs and its sad that someone has criticised their efforts instead of seeing the day for what it was, perfect. As a weekend away taking out the wedding we had a lovely time and the relaxed cosey feel was just our kind of thing, we could see ourselves staying here again.
