“A recommended stopover for business or leisure”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 2, 2013 via mobile

I stay at the Twin Oaks four or five times a year and have finally got round to posting a review. Prior to their big refurb two or three years ago, my ratings would have been average at best but the rooms are presented to a high standard and the dining areas and parking are within easy reach.

The hotel is sited just off the Chesterfield junction of the M1 - 29? The bar has a restaurant which has a decent priced, varied menu. There's a Brasserie which I haven't eaten
in. Breakfasts are well cooked
and the staff in all areas are helpful and friendly.

I'd recommend the Twin Oaks as a stopover for business or leisure. They are a decent alternative if you are a bit tired of the chain hotels that tend to congregate around motorway junctions.

I normally try and temper positive reviews with areas that could be improved on but nothing significant springs to mind.

We came here for a birthday party and originally were going to go back home but due to the snow we stayed the night. Due to this our booking was made quite late on but the staff were friendly and helpful all way through, we also got a discount as we were part of the party. The bar area was good and so was the buffet provided, we stayed in the annex off the main hotel. The room was fairly modern and clean, if was ever around this area again we would stay again.

Six of us decided to go for a meal at the Twin Oaks hotel. We had been here many years ago and were not impressed. Obviously the latest owners have thrown a lot of money and thought into the new decor. What a pleasent surprise we got when stepping inside. The bar area is tastefully decorated with nice comfy settees and armchairs. To be honest we could have stopped in there all night. Food menu/specials board had a good selection. We were shown into the brasserie which again was very well laid out. I went for the Derbyshire Braised Beef and must say it was absolutely delicious. Will certainly be paying more visits in the future.

Many thanks for your kind comments. The Hotel and restaurant has been extensively refurbished over the past couple of years and this sort of feedback makes it all worthwhile.
We hope to see you again in the near future.

Stayed overnight for a family wedding. Started on the wrong foot when the reception staff tried to charge me £10 more than the price I'd booked for with booking.com. Discontent at reception with grumbles about booking.com getting it wrong, manager not sorting it out etc, not very pleasant when checking in. Lovely lady called Sue sorted us out and then appeared behind the bar to serve us our drinks, very friendly and chatty. Our room was spotless, well appointed and lovely and warm, with a big comfy bed, so got to give housekeeping 10 out of 10! Had a lovely day at our family wedding with an extremely good buffet reception. The young bar staff could do with some training as the service was poor and not particularly friendly. I must say I'm glad we were one of the wedding party and not a guest staying for an overnight rest whilst travelling. The wedding party does 'take over' the hotel and the noise from the evening disco would keep weary travellers awake so I wouldn't stay here unless I was a wedding guest. Check to see if there's a celebration on before booking in would be my advice! Overall our stay was pleasant but not exceptional and the price mix-up was embarrassing, especially when we went to check-out and once again Twin Oaks tried to charge us the higher price! Would I recommend? Not sure if I would stay again unless it was for a family gathering, the rooms are very good but breakfast is not included and a bit pricey at £10 each. Needs some tweaking to improve.

We chose this venue for my wife's grandmother's 90th birthday get together as it was central for most people travelling. Being adjacent to the M1 was ideal. Plenty of safe parking.
The hotel is very well kept, inside and out, quite a modern look to it. It was a Sunday so as well as the normal menu we had Sunday roast as well. The food was delicious and good value too. The staff were clean, attentive and very helpfull.
I don't think we will have to wait for another birthday to go back.

We had a family gathering here for a lovely Sunday lunch. People were arriving from all around, so the location near the M1 is very handy. Some of us arrived early and were made welcome in the very comfortable lounge/bar. The bar and restaurant staff were extremely helpful, friendly and efficient throughout. We can't comment on the accommodation, but can certainly recommend the restaurant/brasserie.

Twin Oaks proved to live up to the excellent web site that takes a virtual tour of the property, along with a comentary explaining the history and renovations of the building
After a very long flight from NewZealand, it proved to be perfect for a tranquil, luxurious stay made special by the excellent management and staff, nothing was too much trouble. The rooms are very tasteful with great facilities, the menu very high class, yet affordable, the bar, well stocked and pleasent surroundings. Would have no hesitation in recommending this establishment.
