Get the low down on the humble chocolate bean from one of the guides, then visit the shop where you can buy the chocolate bars and individual chocolates. The chocolate is all organic and delicious. There is also a restaurant and a couple of craft shops on the estate.

We called in on a drive round the island.decided to have something to east before we did the your, we only wanted a snack so ordered a sandwich, this took 1.5 hours to arrive, and we have up waiting for the drinks we ordered even tho we reminded them.we had to queue got a long time to pay as well.

We waited for a tour guide, eventually one was free and we were shown a video we could barely hear then she gave us the tour, it's a, very short tour around the processing of the cocoa you don't get to see any trees,or plants

If I had paid to go on an organised tour I would have been very unhappy

The restaurant is a large open area that almost feels like a tree house when you're up there. It is open buffet and there was a nice selection of dishes, hot and cold. Staff is pleasant. This would be a good place to go if you have young children, as it's a farm as well, with various animals and birds for you to look at. My son lives on the island and claims this is the best food on the island.

We loved our trip to Belmont. A really interesting place to visit, and how could you not love somewhere that produces such good quality chocolate. We took the tour and our senses were assailed by wonderful smells, tastes and sights of cocoa and the other spices grown on the estate. The garden is beautiful and verdant - everything grows, from cocoa, cinnamon, vanilla, cloves and fruits to heliaconias and other flamboyant flowers. We tasted cocoa nibs and cocoa tea (which was delicious). There is a shop selling the chocolate, which is produced up the road in Hermitage. The restaurant is good, and the drinks (fruit punch all grown from the garden, banana peanut twist, chocolate monkey - banana and chocolate from the estate) are truly amazing. I really recommend the Belmont Estate, and buying the chocolate supports the local economy as the cocoa production is run as a co-operative
