“Tweedsmuir Park Lodge "a bridge between Heaven and Earth"”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 17, 2011

"An experience of blissful happines" is one of the definitions of Heaven. These words are also an appropriate way for me to describe Tweedsmuir Park and the and the Lodge located in the park. I travel to Bella Coola on business at least once a year and no trip into the valley is complete with out a visit to TPL. The staff, food, lodging and of course the setting are all top notch.

We spent 4 night here in the Caribou chalet for the last part of our trip to Canada. The logde was situated in the most beautiful surroundings with viewsof the mountains from our chalet. All the staff were fabulous and Swede was a great host. The main lodge was welcoming tastefully decorated with a lovely log fire on cool evenings. All trips from the lodge were well organised and executed. Great viewings of bears from the river drifts, the bear watching platform and 'Doug on the trail' walks. Luckily there was a small gym at the logde to help burn-off the calories from the excellent food that was served at every meal. Would highly recommend this lodge and we will go back for a repeat visit in a couple of years.

Thank you for taking the time to write your very positive review. It means a lot to the staff and also to Swede to hear that they have accomplished their goal of making the stay as enjoyable as possible.

I followed advice given in tripadvisor reviews. This place is a Wonderland in itself. I had a chalet, it was so inviting everytime i entered the room. So clean, the large be and upstairs attic, the interior was with all the windows all round looking over the park, the mountains, and of course a good safe place for viewing the bears. I took drifts down the river, one short, one long. Took 129 photos in the afternoon of my arrival, of course there were bears, and plenty of fish and the scenery was just incredible, so relaxing. on my long trip, I saw and photographed the eagles. again awesome. The I went on a long hike all day in and out of the wilderness, plenty to see. Again saw some bears and eagles. People get with it, this is the place to visit. I met so many other nice people from other countries, so many stories to tell. The Staff were ever so pleasant and so helpful, it felt as though I had known them for years, they also made my stay a very memorable one. Thank you all... I nearly forgot the food, say no more, the menus were out of this world and so much on the plates. Forget the calories!!! All in all 350 pics.

Driving in, we were immediately struck by the breathtakingly beautiful surroundings of the lodge. Clearly a nature and wilderness lover's paradise! The reception we received by the staff was extremely warm and friendly. Rebecca got us settled in to our comfortable Black Bear chalet and we got the feeling that she'd have done anything to make sure our stay was as perfect as possible! Not knowing what we were getting ourselves into, we opted for the meal plan and did not regret it for a moment. The dinners created by chef Carol were exceptional - spectacular presentation using the very best ingredients, every bite was a delicious treat. And, substantial portions, too! The breakfasts were a true treat as well - the best we've had in a long time, with a nice variety of fresh foods and warm dishes (bonus - yummy smoothies!). The picnic lunch we took with us hiking was a gourmet's delight. Annalee was great at efficiently coordinating arrangements for tours and activities and had us set up with our attentive and knowledgable guide Doug in no time. Doug showed us his "secret" spots and even managed to rustle up a grizzly for us to watch frolicking in the river. Our two night stay was not even barely ("bearly"?) long enough to take it all in and we're already talking about coming back some day. Every member of the staff went above and beyond to make us happy. I'll definitely be recommending it highly to our friends, family and my clients. Being "islanders", we already live a pretty relaxed life, but I can still see that this would be the ideal spot for those who need to "decompress"! And, for outdoor enthusiasts like ourselves, it is certainly is hard to beat.

If we wanted to be particularly picky, we'd mention that there was an overwhelming (air freshener??) "scent" in our cabin - but, keeping the window wide open (which we prefer anyway) resolved the worst of it. We also traded the softer pillows from the loft for the ones downstairs, which were real neck benders. But, neither of these details stopped us from thoroughly enjoying our short stay.

Surrounded by mountains this lodge is the best place to stay in the Bella Coola Valley.
Staff made our stay memorable. Annalee was great at facilitating arrangements for accomodations and touring. Carol and Kendall made made meals that you devoured with your eyes first; then savoured every bite. Go for the meal plan... it is well worth it! Bikes were great, hot tub too. Having had the chance to see several places in the valley... this would be my recommended go to place! Summer is a great time to stay. The lodge was quiet for most of our stay but the friendly welcome and the warm feelings extended to us were exceptional. On top of all this the lodge is puppy friendly too!

On a recent trip through B.C. we spent three days at the Tweedsmuir Park Lodge. It was fabulous -- definitely the highlight of our trip.

The Lodge is beautiful, the setting magical, the chalets wonderful, and the food spectacular. We decided in the end that the secret was the staff -- enormously friendly and endlessly helpful and accommodating.

The coolest thing we did was heli-hiking with a guide and group conveniently arranged by the Lodge for us. It was absolutely spectacular. The guide was hugely informative. The helicopter ride was a blast. Highly recommended!

Wonderful location, staff extremely helpful and went out of their way to make our stay most enjoyable. Definitely the best accommodation to stay at in the Bella Coola area and highly recommended to anyone looking for a peaceful breakaway with lots of fun things to do in the area. The food was out of this world and we were pleasantly surprised at how well it compared to five star restaurants in Vancouver, loved it!
