“Great friendly pub - Can't fault it”
Reviewed March 8, 2014

We were staying down the road and popped in for a drink - was able to bring our dog in the bar who sat quietly under the table, and had a lovely couple of pints. The owners and staff were extremely hospitable, and we felt really welcomed. We went back a couple of days later to try the fish soup they recommended - it was 100% the nicest soup I've ever tasted. My husband had the french onion soup, again delicious. It was so nice too to have a chat with the owners/staff. The atmosphere was really good, even though we picked a quiet time. I wish we had more pubs like this where we live.

“Excellent food”
Reviewed March 1, 2014 via mobile

Top marks to the chef, we had an excellent meal for two. From the good quality bread basket, through thoughtful and well presented starters, to two exceptional main courses (the Venison was particularly good) and coffee. The desserts looked good but we're not dessert folk per se. The wine by the glass was good value and the pint of 'Proper Job' was the proper job. Atmosphere was lively but not obtrusive and we enjoyed being in the restaurant rather than the bar. Service spot on, and the new owners seem to be making an effort despite whinges about dogs in bars (which I have always found rather odd) - there were no dogs when we went and it's a better place for it. Worth going just for the food.

“Scrumptious - Best meal in a very long time”
Reviewed February 27, 2014

As a local B&B owner we are often asked by our guests where they should eat. We now know what we can say - The Rock Inn at Waterrow. Everything is home made from scratch, even the ice cream. We shall definitely be returning ourselves and can only hope that the food next time is just as good as our visit today. If you want something a little bit different there are many specials, but traditional pub classics also appear on the menu. I am a vege and am often dissapointed with pub food but here my mushroom rissotto and aubergine tagine were superb.

“No hesitation in awarding 5 stars”
Reviewed February 27, 2014

I have eaten here on several occasions and never been disappointed. The menu is daring and varied and everything is cooked to perfection. I was delighted to find they make their own ice cream! A truly enjoyable meal again in a congenial atmosphere. (And they allow dogs on leads in the bar area which is a plus for many of us!)

“Great meal”
Reviewed February 25, 2014 via mobile

Had a very enjoyable meal, menu a good balance between old favourites and interesting use of local produce. Made to feel very welcome. So good that my husband returned for a quiet drink the following evening with the dog!
