“Teambuilding / Company Outing type of place”
Reviewed July 15, 2013

Place is well suited for corporate teambuilding activities, school clubs/orgs, or family reunions who wants games to go along their outings. They have the facilities such as courts and obstacle courses exactly for these games and provide their own event organizers to help plan the stay.

The rooms and the buffet meal inclusions are not something to be excited about though. The meals are only available for an hour each for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Of which the food quality is just enough to get you past your hunger, don't expect a gourmet experience. Rooms are bare and the bathroom fixtures were falling apart due to old age.

All said, you stay can still leave a smile on your face but only because of the memories you'll be having with your friends/colleagues/family, and not because of the place per se.

Been reading good reviews about this place and thus, we're excited to experience the same as reviews.

When we arrived however last Dec 25:

- Weather was not fine (and we can't do it)
- Rooms were too old, bed sheets were too thin, rooms' full of flies and smells really awful -- we need to call their attention to redo cleaning of the room, RESTROOM? terrible !!! very dirty, bidet not working and stained, floor of the CR is wet and no rags.... tiles?? are soiled... shower rooms are too small and you cannot even move, same as toilet....
- service? seemed that they are under manned

On the other hand:
- buffet food is plenty (but just ordinary)
- outdoor facilities is just average ( we just enjoyed the mudslide and earthball -- no choice)

Overall -- for almost 3K per head / day even with dinner and breakfast is REALLY OVERPRICED and very disappointing...

We stayed here in one of our teambuildings and it was a 2-day full of fun and adventure. Although there was a miscommunication between the reservations, it was all sorted out before we checked-in. We reserved for a certain number of participants but they cannot accommodate us all in the duplex. The management instead gave us a room in one of the hotels and everybody was very happy. :)

Room Tip: If you travel in groups, better stay in one of the duplex. It's going to be muddy and dirty. So...

It was roller-coaster ride experience. I came from Mindanao Island of the Philippines. I traveled via plane, taxi, bus, ferry and jeepney to reach the place. Whew! Am dead tired when i arrive plus a gloomy weather. Reasons why i failed to appreciate the place on my first day.

The place is best for team building activities and can also be a training venue. My room has its basic room facilities. Its big enough to accommodate up to four occupants. The toilet is in a standard size but the concrete partition of bath area made the bowl short of space. They made up the room daily but for the whole duration of my 3N/2D stay, they don't change my beddings even if the stain was obvious.

Smorgasbord is serve in all meals. You just have to take a little to sample taste the foods they serve otherwise you will be sorry as the rule is "Get all you want, eat all you get. No take out". I love the rice porridge and sotanghon - so yummy.

The building is a four-storey. No elevator or escalator. They are using level A, B, C in descending order. The lobby and function areas are in the fourth floor. C level is actually the first floor. My room was in the second floor (B Level). I had therefore endured a good cardiovascular exercises. The place is free from pollution, i believe - since it is surrounded by trees and there are only two jeepneys plying to and from the port area. The location is away from the hustle and bustle of the city.

I got a promo from the SMX travel fair for Caliraya Recreation Center for only 1300 per head with accomodation at their Duplex House and full board buffet meal ( Dinner, breakfast, lunch) with free use of their facilities. We are a group of 10 and yet their duplex house is too big for us. It is a room with a second floor facing the lake. We had anice view of the lake from our room. And it has 18 beds all in all. and it has 2 bathrooms with 2 shower in each bathroom. The room is a little bit "old" and the mattress of the bed needs to be replaced since you can feel the frame of the bed when you lie down. It is a very big resort so they provide a jeepney transpo to bring you to whichever place you want inside the resort. We enjoyed the kayaking and the superman zipline for a only 200 and 150. we also had fun for the unlimited use of their mud slide. They are also organize at meal time that they have reserved tables for each guest and they have different areas at the dinig hall so you dont have to wait for a long line in the buffet table. The food is just fine, balanced with carbs, protein, vegetable, and fruits. A special mention to their bread that tastes good. You can also enjoy their free-flowing coffe during meal time. They have 3 pools but I think they have to add more because the pools get too-crowded when they have a lot of guest. The pinoy zipline is also fun but very tiring. They have a playground but they should add more to it perhasp a swing and a seesaw... all in all this place is good for fun bonding with family and friends.

Room Tip: you may choose a room at the hotel for small groups or a room at the villa since i heard these ar th...

Caliraya Recreational Center/Resort is one of the premiere locations to bond with friends or hold a team activity. They also offer team building services facilitated by folks from Saint Francis Square (company) Located in Laguna, it is a 3-hour drive from Manila. The resort is accessible via a 1 minute boat ride from their parking area.

Accommodation
The resort has various types of rooms to accommodate everyone's need. As I was a part of a group of 10, we decided to take advantage of their duplex which can house a maximum of 20 pax. Double deck beds at the ground floor and single beds on the 2nd. The AC's were powerful enough to keep the room cool. 2 TB with several shower stalls per bathroom.

Amenities
The facility had a lot to offer in terms of activities and amenities. Use of the facilities come free with the standard package or with a minimal fee. Some of the things/services that are available:
Team building package (play with the earthball, guaranteed fun!)
Zip line
Rock wall
Mud slide
some bungee thing
Swimming pool
Basketball court
football field?
Bonfire/Campfire

Food and Drink
Breakfast Lunch and Dinner is buffet. Food was on the C+ side, bordering good to very good. Free coffee during meal time.

Unfortunately, you cannot bring your own booze to the facility. You have to purchase liquor from their office and the office closes at 10pm. Make sure you stock on supply as there are no other options once you run out of bottles. I was also advised that consumption of alcohol within the duplex premises were prohibited.

Service.
Service was standard. Nothing extra ordinary. But i strongly suggest that you exert effort to be-friend those that man the facilities for more competitive rates.

Overall Experience.
The overall experience was pleasant. The resort doesnt pretend to be anything more than what it is. A 2-night stay will be sufficient to enjoy most if not all of what the resort has to offer. Great place for groups, but probably not couples.

Room Tip: Bring friends and get the duplex. You'd get a better deal.

We had our retreat at Caliraya, Laguna. We stayed for 3d/2n in the cottages (non-air-conditioned). We really had fun during our stay (despite the bad weather). It was raining when we had our boating and swimming. The last day though, it kind of ruined the whole stay. There were big ants all over the floor (where we basically had our beds set up). It crawled from underneath the cottage (outside- where there were trash) to inside our room.

Regardless, the ambiance is so relaxing- just great to get out of the business of the city. There were a lot of activities that one can possibly do.
