Tusk and Dawn was decided as the place for the weekend of Mar 8/9 after much deliberation and no one was diasppointed. Right from the booking experience to the final billing - it was a pleasure. Had booked 4 cottages for a 10 adult (& 4 kids) gang. Driving down from Bangalore, we reached the place at around 1400 Hrs with our vehicles full of dust. Mr.Parameshwar had called up to ascertain the time that we were reaching and hence lunch was ready. Delicious food gave a very good feeling even before we saw our cottages. Lazed around the resort for a while before heading over to see the log huts. Secluded among the woods, the log huts were something which would pull me back to this place. Post a evening tea, went on a small trek which was enjoyed by the kids (aged 5,6,6,7) . Once back a small campfire was lit and we entertained ourself with a bout of dumb charades. Snacked majorly on egg burji, finger chips and gobi manchurian during the camp fire, we finished dinner which was again a good fare. Crashed off at around 2330 in our respective rooms only to wake up at around 0700 hrs. A lazy sunday morning, none of us were in any mind to walk - so lazed around, had a wonderful breakfast and started back to Bangalore.

We had booked for 10 Pax but only 8 had turned up (due to an emergency) and Mr.Parameshwar was kind enough to charge only 8 !!!

The service of the staff to accomodate any of our request is really amazing.

Would love to go back here - for the offroading and the quiet well deserved break that we got !!!

Room Tip: The fan in some of the rooms may not be working - it is not a big problem (its very cold in the nigh...

Visited Tusk and Dawn in a large group. We'd booked all the rooms. The place has a small staff but the service was great. The location is fantastic but it is in the middle on nowhere so make sure you either have good company or carry something to keep you occupied. You have to park your car in a designated parking lot which is about 3 kms from the resort and then travel by Jeep because the road is really bad. The rooms are small but good. The toilets can be a little cleaner.

This place is very close to nature, serene and calm . cottages are well maintained and decent .. couple of treks we could manage with our kids (9 years and 5 years old) are pretty good .. I needed to drive my Santro to the resort .. which is quite challenging.. I was told they arrange a 4WD vehicle during monsoon for the last 3 KM, so I suggest the resort people to give an option to travelers even during other seasons as well .. Lunch/Dinner is good . breakfast is slightly disappointing .

Well maintained cottages in an excellent location into the jungle. Takes you away from all hassles of every day..! We were 6 friends stayed for the weekend. The trekking was good, unfortunately we couldn't continue more than 2 hrs as it started drizzling. Otherwise we could have enjoyed trek for few more hrs.
The food was clean and good. The service was excellent. This chef makes akki roti like foolka, very nice. The pricing for this place was very good.
The jeep ride is one of the best experience you shouldn't miss. Overall it's an excellent experience and value for money.

Room Tip: You can't take your car to this location. So, plan your luggage accordingly as you'll need t...

We were there at T&D during 3rd weekend of November. Right from the booking process (Thanks to Sandhya!) till we paid our bills everything was smooth and hassle free.

Mr Mohan, such a gracious and wonderful host! He made us feel like revered guests. The staff was very friendly and made our stay most comfortable. The food too was really good, we were there for 3 days and never ever were the dishes repeated.

The scenery around was rustic, rugged and beautiful. The treks were amazing and the off-roading a MUST! There was no electricity provided for the entire day but not even once will you miss it!

Finally, how can I not mention Mickey, the most well behaved dog I have seen, a real delight.

Highs of our trip

1. Trek to a near by stream/waterfall.
2. Off-roading
3. Trampoline!
4. Food - all our requests were met.
5. Mickey :-)

What an amazing place. The location is excellent - we were practically in the middle of the forest and it was wonderful.

The cottage rooms are basic, clean, and value for money. They could be fixed up a little bit. There are two rooms per cottage with a small porch area in front. The greenhouse bathrooms add a nice eco touch. There are geese, ducks, guinea fowl wandering through the resort. Mickey is easily the biggest and friendliest Doberman I've ever met.

The food was excellent - simple, tasty, homely food. The hospitality shown by Mohan and his team was outstanding - we felt like we were honored guests at their home.

The staff ensure you are safe on their many trekking routes. The routes take you across some seriously pretty waterfalls. Although we didn't get a lot of leeches, go prepared with proper footwear if leeches bother you.

If you like a nice adrenaline kick, don't miss the 4X4 off-road drive. We had Paramesh take us across some really wild routes and it was a thrilling experience.

As other reviewers have noted, this is a remote place and easily some 20 km from the nearest town. So if you need anything special in terms of food or drink, you will need to tell them in advance.

There is also no proper mobile network - but isn't that the whole point of going to such a place! :) It is really admirable that the resort generates its own power. Therefore, it is rationed out a little bit, which is completely understandable. Also, staying in the middle of nature means there will be bugs around. So be prepared for slugs in the bathroom and an occasional frog in the porch. All part of the nature experience.

The booking process was very smooth with good follow-up by Sandya and Mohan.

This is an excellent place if you are looking to get away from your hectic lifestyle and escape into nature and just relax, catch up on your reading, do some trekking, eat some really tasty, homely food, and be treated to some outstanding hospitality.

Room Tip: Stayed in Cottage room 4. Nice view of surrounding greenery from the window next to the bed. Curtain...

Spent 3n/4days @ Tusk & Dawn, Hanbal. Was a truly amazing experience, the setting of T&D is stunning - right in the middle of the verdant western ghats. Hills all around, with the forest only a few steps away from your room! We (my 7 yr daughter, wife and me) thoroughly enjoyed the numerous treks we took upto the hill tops, crossing innumerable streams in the lap of nature. Lots of leeches, but eh, what's the fun of a trek if there weren't any leeches!

The treks by themselves are not very strenous. No animal sightings, but having the evening mist roll off the hill tops over you as you climb up is an experience in itself.

Rooms are average, food is very good. The staff - especially Rahul & Ramesh - were very resourceful and helpful.

Pros: No or very little mobile signal :), lovely and soothing treks, lots and lots of butterflies to see and photograph, good food, friendly people

Cons: None significant, although they could spruce up the rooms a bit!

Room Tip: If you are travelling with kids, there isn't any other activity other than the trek and a trampo...
