Spent 3n/4days @ Tusk & Dawn, Hanbal. Was a truly amazing experience, the setting of T&D is stunning - right in the middle of the verdant western ghats. Hills all around, with the forest only a few steps away from your room! We (my 7 yr daughter, wife and me) thoroughly enjoyed the numerous treks we took upto the hill tops, crossing innumerable streams in the lap of nature. Lots of leeches, but eh, what's the fun of a trek if there weren't any leeches!

The treks by themselves are not very strenous. No animal sightings, but having the evening mist roll off the hill tops over you as you climb up is an experience in itself.

Rooms are average, food is very good. The staff - especially Rahul & Ramesh - were very resourceful and helpful.

Pros: No or very little mobile signal :), lovely and soothing treks, lots and lots of butterflies to see and photograph, good food, friendly people

Cons: None significant, although they could spruce up the rooms a bit!

Room Tip: If you are travelling with kids, there isn't any other activity other than the trek and a trampo...

Absolutely everything about this place is just too good, starting with location, all the way up to the food they serve. A truly remarakable place with great vistas, wonderful service and good food. The eco-friendly nature of the place is reflected in the limited number of cottages, large glass windows and "greenhouse" bathrooms ! So very natural !

The service is great and the staff are very helpful and informative, and they have plenty of geese and guinea fowl along with a wonderful dog, who is so friendly. I loved hiking the hills around the place and off-roading all the way down there !

Excellent !

Room Tip: They have a log cottage as well, tucked deep in the woods !

This place just merges itself with nature, away from any kind of human habitation. The resort has the hills as the backdrop, you can actually trek to the top of these hills. Food is quite basic. The cottages could do with a little more furniture, but the bathroom is awesome. The staff and the manager are very friendly. There are a lot of pets around the place. The fish pond is mind blowing. The place literally comes alive at night with the camp fire, starry night, display of the fire flies and the sound of the jungle. The resort does not have even an electricity connection, that makes it even more remote.

Thank You for the review. Its good to hear people talk about nature and feel it. We always look forward to have guests to come, look around and forget about everything and just understand nature. About adding some more furniture in the rooms will be looked into. We are in the process of improvising the menu list, and should be done with shortly.

A property that encourages you to explore nature. Don't miss the waterfall, sunset point and the hill drive.

Best: 4x4 drives in a jeep get you to exotic locations. The evening campfire and snacks are good experience to enjoy the starry sky with guests.

Tip: Ask for sandwich and coffee / tea thermos to have a picnic.

This one is in in deep forest where there is no commercial activities, no people, but only nature. Its a perfect place if you want solitude. Well the roads while reaching the destination , say about 5 to 10 kilometers is muddy not advisable to go in a small car.If you go by a smal car do ask the resort guys before hand to pick you up , they have a jeep.( Even if u take a small car if it doesnt reach the place, u have to park it in the forest, so better not take a small car, instead take a proper strong car which reaches the place)

The best thing I liked about this place is the walk with one of the staff (Harish) to a small waterfall nearby. Spending time bathing here was worth it.

All the staff of T & D were welcoming, cheerful and had a zeal of customer service in them.

Food served was sufficient and tasty.

Of course this place is best to be with friends also as it is in a very remote point. Either visit this place in group/friends.

I surely liked the stay here and will want to go again

Around 25 kms from sakleshpur town, merged with nature, is this place 'Tusk and Dawn'! Following the last 6-8 kms of a very 'rough ride' through the forest, streams, and through the cry of elephants (I mean it!!), you reach the resort. The final stretch to the resort is the best if you have a jeep or an SUV, especially during rains. Else, it is recommended to leave your vehicle in the nearby town, and take their vehicle.

The rooms are average and very comfortable. The walk to the stream near the resort is splendid!! The 4 wheel drive, through the forest and the mountains that Prithvi (manager of the resort) takes us on, needs a special mention!

The food was really horrible, and the dishes, very limited in number. They only have the basic facilities at the resort, and can really improve!

The ceaseless rain during our visit made the stay a bit miserable, with leeches flooding the place(outside the cottages, ofcourse), and making it impossible for us to step outside the cottage most of the time ! THE PLACE, THUS, IS NOT RECOMMENDED DURING HEAVY RAINS!

Pros:
Excellent location
Away from civilization
No tv's
THE 4X4 DRIVE
Great host

Cons:
Horrible Food
Limited facilities

Room Tip: The wood houses (or they are called tree houses, I am not sure) are better 'into the nature'...
