A property that encourages you to explore nature. Don't miss the waterfall, sunset point and the hill drive.

Best: 4x4 drives in a jeep get you to exotic locations. The evening campfire and snacks are good experience to enjoy the starry sky with guests.

Tip: Ask for sandwich and coffee / tea thermos to have a picnic.

This one is in in deep forest where there is no commercial activities, no people, but only nature. Its a perfect place if you want solitude. Well the roads while reaching the destination , say about 5 to 10 kilometers is muddy not advisable to go in a small car.If you go by a smal car do ask the resort guys before hand to pick you up , they have a jeep.( Even if u take a small car if it doesnt reach the place, u have to park it in the forest, so better not take a small car, instead take a proper strong car which reaches the place)

The best thing I liked about this place is the walk with one of the staff (Harish) to a small waterfall nearby. Spending time bathing here was worth it.

All the staff of T & D were welcoming, cheerful and had a zeal of customer service in them.

Food served was sufficient and tasty.

Of course this place is best to be with friends also as it is in a very remote point. Either visit this place in group/friends.

I surely liked the stay here and will want to go again

Around 25 kms from sakleshpur town, merged with nature, is this place 'Tusk and Dawn'! Following the last 6-8 kms of a very 'rough ride' through the forest, streams, and through the cry of elephants (I mean it!!), you reach the resort. The final stretch to the resort is the best if you have a jeep or an SUV, especially during rains. Else, it is recommended to leave your vehicle in the nearby town, and take their vehicle.

The rooms are average and very comfortable. The walk to the stream near the resort is splendid!! The 4 wheel drive, through the forest and the mountains that Prithvi (manager of the resort) takes us on, needs a special mention!

The food was really horrible, and the dishes, very limited in number. They only have the basic facilities at the resort, and can really improve!

The ceaseless rain during our visit made the stay a bit miserable, with leeches flooding the place(outside the cottages, ofcourse), and making it impossible for us to step outside the cottage most of the time ! THE PLACE, THUS, IS NOT RECOMMENDED DURING HEAVY RAINS!

Pros:
Excellent location
Away from civilization
No tv's
THE 4X4 DRIVE
Great host

Cons:
Horrible Food
Limited facilities

Room Tip: The wood houses (or they are called tree houses, I am not sure) are better 'into the nature'...

Had a wonderful weekend at this place. Added to the fun was unanticipated showers. A must visit place, far from any habitations. I have gone to luxuries resorts paying thousands per day, but never as satisfied to this.

Below might help any to be visitors:

Good things -
* Remote location, In between the mountains and a jungle
* Off-roading/ jeep ride between the hills (Never miss this, its a must )
* Decent rooms, as you read the other reviews - don't expect a luxury or a cozy rooms, but these are tidy, clean and value for money. The power is generated by using the water in a near by stream, and will only be available from evening till morning
* Friendly staff - good service
* affordable and value for money

Things that can improvise -
* providing information on the activities before hand and let the visitor plan their day- the staff will tell you enough information when asked
* food varieties - though tasty food is served, the menu is fixed. Varieties in the menu for personal orders are less/ minimal. Any personal orders have to be decided prior (when you arrive and before evening) and informed. They have to arrange for it from outside city.
* road that leads to the resort - its about 9KM drive from a main road, muddy-rocky road (have to pass through a small stream) and not fit for the delicate cars. It was told that a jeep would be sent to pick us up from a near by city, but we were asked to drive to this remote place. Every visitor was concerned with their vehicle getting damaged on this road or getting stuck in the stream, The rain that may visit anytime makes the road worse, though it is thrill to drive, its not for the sensitive cars.
* To make the rooms better - king size cots and better beds could be used
* A provision of Iron box
* The major crowd will be groups of boys. Though sometime you may see girls accompanied and often couples do arrive. It does worry a couple/ girls when they are between big chunk of male population, the resort should make them feel comfortable and safe.

Nevertheless the trip is going to be memorable, You don't have to evaluate the place or the resort with any other. As the resort acknowledge the value of the place, please maintain the calmness of the place and be responsible to protect it (not to litter and harm any animals you may find) .

Room Tip: The wooden cottages are not good with the amenities.

Tusk and dawn is tucked away in the forests of Sakleshpur. If you are looking for a place where you can leave city life behind, well this is the place. Tusk and Dawn provides lot of activities like trekking, walk through the forest to the water falls, off roading, camp fires. The accomodation are of two types, one is the log houses and the regular rooms. It is a different experience to stay at the log house as it is little away from the main building and you get a feeling of staying within the forest.
The food is a absolutely delicious. They make their local delicacy which is lip smacking. But as it is 20 kms away from the main town, you would have to tell the staff there if you need anything extra to eat / drink apart from the food served well in advance.

You wouldnt find any mobile network unless you have BSNL connection. The whole point of coming to Sakleshpur is to leave your hectic city life behind and this place helps you do just that.

The trekking can be customised as per your needs. And the best activity is the off roading. It is one experience you shouldn't miss. Campfire isn't that great but doable. The restaurant is an open restaurant. It becomes little too chilly at nights to eat.

Overall, it is a place you should visit when in Sakleshpur. More fun when with your friends.

Tusk and dawn is a place you go to when you want to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city. This is a place that generates its own electricity, that is how remote it is. So if you go there expecting a 5 star resort with 5 star facilities, you are going to be very disappointed. This place comprises of a few cottages surrounded by dense foliage. The cottages themselves are very functional. They really don't encourage you to stay indoors. But why would you want to? If you want to just laze around, pick a hammock. If you want to play with your kids, use the trampoline. If you want to go trekking, pick a direction. Don't want to walk? Get the 4X4 ride. They have a few domesticated birds and animals wandering around the property that kept our kids occupied for most part of our stay. The highlight for them though was the peacock that came calling. It is the first time they ever saw a wild one wandering around minding its business.
The service is friendly. The food is good. Pretty basic. Maybe a little spicy... but good. Mostly vegetarian with one non veg dish. They set up a bonfire at night with barbecued chicken and vegges,
In all this is a place to unwind. Take a couple of days off, come here and feel one with nature.

Room Tip: If you don't want to have your teeth rattled, sit in the front on the 4X4 ride :)

Tusk & Dawn is hidden away in the middle of the forest and is highly recommended for trekkers and nature-lovers. It is located in a beautiful valley, with a little pond nearby. Other facilities are good but nothing special. People unused to a jungle getaway will not like the fact that there is no electricity for most of the day! I

Getting there:
Tusk & Dawn is so remotely located that normal cars may not be able to make the journey from the town--the roads are narrow and bumpy. In our case, they sent us a jeep and driver to the town to pick us up, and we followed. If they think your vehicle is unsuitable or if the roads are bad, they have a place where you can leave your car and they will take you there in the jeep.

Rooms:
There are sets of twin cottages with a large room and a nice bathroom (with a skylight and plants). Pleasant and clean, but nothing special.

Service:
Service was good but not exceptional.

Food:
There was good variety of local food, and the cooks were happy to take requests as well.

Activities:
Trekking is just fabulous around the property. There is a beautiful waterfall nearby and the property is ringed by mountains. They have a lot of open space if you want to play outdoor games. Nature-lovers will also like the pond nearby with ducks!
