“The best meal ..In the world?”
Reviewed January 4, 2014

Me and my better half stopped in at the white hart whilst staying in the area.

The inn boasts a wood burning fire which is always nice to see.

The staff we polite and friendly along with offering a second to none service.

The food was first rate with excellent presentation, which isn't usually one of my concerns, but the taste also was fantastic.

Cant rate this place highly enough.

“Excellent lunch”
Reviewed December 24, 2013

Have been going to the White Hart for years and always had a very good meal here. Hadnt been for a while so thought we'de pop in for a late lunch. Love the cosy bar area, settled in around the open fire on comfy chairs enjoying drinks and perused the menu. Decided on a light lunch of starters which were curried parsnip soup and the mackerel, both were delicious and surprisingly filling. Then we had the steak ciabbata and the open prawn sandwich. Both delicious ! Could not manager dessert. Service was very good as usual, staff friendly and chatty. Love the laid back feel of the White Hart, love the history, love the cosy ambience. A favourite.

“Excellent food and value”
Reviewed December 22, 2013

The White Hart is an excellent venue to enjoy great food, service and atmosphere. We visited on a busy Friday evening, however the service was spot on friendly and attentive. The menu is varied and is accompanied by a wine list which is varied and relatively modestly priced.

The food was first class, expertly cooked and presented with the "wow" factor, at the end of the meal the bill was very reasonable and far better value than some local competition.

Overall, an excellent meal.

“Superb!”
Reviewed December 8, 2013

We visited to celebrate my daughters birthday and had a superb meal. We were greeted quickly and efficiently and shown to our table where the drinks order was taken.

Once we had ordered food we were given bread in the shape of mini loaves and butter topped with sea salt. A nice touch!

I had the scallops and ham hock to start followed by the pheasant. Both dishes were delicious and well presented and the service was very good indeed.

We shared two desserts between the three of us, again both were delicious, followed by coffee.

I really can't find anything to fault with our visit here and would highly recommend it.

“A proper Caesar salad”
Reviewed December 6, 2013

Four of us had a truly delicious lunch at the White Hart. The service was excellent - prompt and helpful without being intrusive. We all had different meals, and tasted each others' food. We definitely voted the onion rings as the best that we have ever tasted. It was also a treat to have a proper Caesar salad made with fresh anchovies: just the way it should be.

Altogether a great meal in a lovely setting, and great value. The only downside is that I live 260 miles from the White Hart which will make it difficult to visit as often as I would like!!
