“Expensive and old but pet friendly”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 19, 2013

Stayed for a week. Paid $40 per night for beachfront site for our van. Paid in advance with no refunds given if you are not happy. No difference from the other cheaper sites, no sullage points. No toilet disposal site. Cracked slabs. Showers/toilets were clean. Staff friendly. Park is pet friendly which is why we stayed..
Pool is very old and dated with no shade. No swings or play equipment. Washing machines very expensive.
Possums run over and pee on van roof at night. All in all....would not stay again. No offence to staff (cleaners do a great job) but the park is over priced and very old with no facilities for young families. No swings. Beach is nice to look at and walk along but you can't swim due to stingers/sharks and crocodiles LOL. North QLD is like that.
If you go...choose cheaper site as there is absolutely no difference to expensive ones.

I enjoyed the view but agree with other reviews regarding park needs updating. Partner stayed here 35 years ago and it remains the same as then ! Out of Mackay but his made the location more peaceful. A lot of permanent occupants. Good pool for a hot day.

What a fantastic location. Other reviews are right in that there are no shops etc, but that is part of the charm. If you want all that then go Big4. However, I would rather wake up 10 meters from the sand and the sea. Very friendly staff, and my kids still enjoyed the pool. Would definitely go back.

This is a nice little caravan park just out of MacKay that is quiet and on the beachfront of a calm pretty beach. The park facilities are a little lacking (non-existent - except a very dated ammenities block), but if a quiet out of the way, really relaxing and pretty view is what you are after then this is the place. Friendly staff, and park with playground for the kids right next door.

The only drawback if you are travelling in a camper van, is that there is not much in the way of shops and restaurants withn walking distance and it might mean packing up the van to drive to such places. There is basic but good food cafe 200m up the street that does take-away fish and chips, but that about it, without a drive to the nearby shops.

With time to chill and forget about the rest of the world, will definately go back.

Room Tip: The beachfront sites are great. Nothing but a strip of grass between you and the beach.

I like this caravan park even though it could do with updating, toilets and showers are old and in some toilets no hand basin, soap or hand towel (we have own toilet and shower so does not effect us) but Bucasia is situated right on the beach, with nice green grass lawns to sit on, it has an old pool but functionable to cool off in. It does not have any made roads, more natual, quite pretty if you get a site close to the beach which is called their premium sites @ $40.00 per night. The Mozzies can be a problem, so cover up with repellent (was a lot of water left over from floods in Mackay) if you are vigilant will be no problem. Can walk through caravan park onto beach, but when tides goes out it is a long way. I think this is the prettiest caravan park in Mackay, old and rustick. Not your Big4 with all the bells and whistles. I would come here again.

Room Tip: Walking distance to a nice little cafe Bar down the road

Very old and run down park,There are cracks in the concrete slabs and some the concrete is lifting..No where to put your sullage hose just let it run on the grass, no dump site empty your toilet cassettes into the toilet..the whole park is untidy..several other travellers say they would never go back there again including us.
