Fantastic for us a family of 6 plus guest (2 couldn't make it).
Fabulous Cottage, excellent location, amazing hospitality, downside? property needs a bit more tlc in certain areas but this didn't detract from out stay.
The Welcome package was lovely (unexpected). The host provided some essentials including bread, butter, mineral water, orange juice, flapjacks and more.
The property boasts a large lounge diner and a smaller (but decent sized) snug lounge. Lots of games jigsaws for those rainy days.
The kitchen was large, well equipt and had ample crockery and a kitchen store with herbs and spices.
The location was close to a gentle walk down to the Basin where there are canal boats, and also close to a walk up to the hills where we had an adventure near a disused mine and there were some fantastic views over Chinley and as far as the reservoir which was 2 towns over.
The host was great, helpful and on hand if needed. The Wi-Fi wasn't working and by the next day a new box had been installed. Couldn't have asked for more.
Lovely personal touches. :) Very happy, would book again.
We have just returned from a 6 night annual family break, in this lovely home. We are a family that live in different parts of country, so meet up to have a late Xmas and celebrate the New Year together. This home accommodated is perfectly, dogs too! We had love walks, younger members made us of the local train service, it was all so lovely. The house is very large and warm. Parking was never a problem, with plenty free nearby, even though at times there were up to 5 cars. The owner was always available on the phone, if needed.
We've just returned from a four night stay here - two adults and three teenagers. We had such a lovely time, the house is very spacious and comfortable. Chinley itself is small, with a few amenities but perfectly situated to visit other villages. Bakewell was lovely and the countryside views on the way there are amazing.
The owner, Terry, is great and just wants to make sure everything is perfect for your stay. I would highly recommend this cottage. We loved it and so did the teenagers.
The house was huge - room for an army but we were only three. It is a warm and friendly house with a wonderful kitchen. We arrived at an unseemly hour after flight problems but everything was ready for us and lots of lovely treats so we did not need to shop immediately. We only had a few nights but would have liked more. Did not sample the restaurants nearby as we were meeting family and friends. However had a nice lunch at the Beehive in Coombs and a wonderful evening meal at The Swan in Kettleshulme. Highly recommended this cottage and expect I will stay next time in the UK. Thank you Terry for your help with our very late arrival without notice.
I am really late posting this, so major apologies to the wonderful owner.
This is by far the best cottage I have stayed in & I've stayed in many. The owner has thought of everything & is so friendly & thoughtful.I will never forget the amazing arrival & welcome we got when we arrived on the Friday night.By this point feeling a little tired, hungry & exasperated & this instantly disappeared when we arrived. The owner has put the Xmas lights on, lit some candles, left wine, cheeseboard, beers, fresh bread, milk, treats for our dog & many more. The cottage is gorgeous, really comfortable with plenty of space for everyone. The village is so pretty, the 2 pubs are great, local Indian is delicous & they are really friendly. Also a great local shop & stunning walks on your doorstep. Would definitely return, thank you!
Lovely cottage that would easily sleep 12 (if not more). Plenty of local shops and eating places in the village. Lovely walks to pet friendly pubs. Every detail had been thought of by the owner - great welcome pack which included bags of dog treats under the Christmas tree.
