“It is a nice place to visit but be careful about touts.”
Reviewed January 29, 2013

This is an important place to visit for people suffering (or) / Negotiating or Phasing thro' Saade Saath (Seven and half years) of Sani's (Saturn's) venture in any body's horoscope. More over this the only place where there is Unique Temple for Saturn other than Thirunallar (Near Kaaraikkaal) in the Union Territory of Pondicherry in South India. It is open for all visitors throughout the day. Please do not get carried away by touts when visiting. They may say many a things to attract or dismay you. Keep calm, Worship Saturn and do prayers on your own phase. Please remember not to carry any left overs from the temple or after doing pooja.(this is according to Hindu mythology). The most preferred oil for lighting here is Ginglee oil (Seasame oil). Male and Female devotees can go and worship near the Saturn Alter and also Pour oil and light the lamp alike. There is no disparity like olden days where female were forbidden.
Offerings (Prasaad) of the Saturn temple are available on sale thro' regulated distribution counters. The crowd is Generally well regulated by Designated Secuity /Duty Guards. It is no wonder but real to say that the entire town is without theft for many many years due to the fear of saturn's adverse effects and it is true that most of the outlets are even without lock because of no fear of thieves.

“Shani dev”
Reviewed January 14, 2013

The good thing is, there is no temple! Lord Shani Dev's stands as a black stone in the open air. Sky is the roof for him. When you got down the vehicle, many shop keepers try to force you to clean your feet at the bustand itself and buy the pooja material at their shops. Please avoid it. If you leave your foot wear at bustand or parking area, you need to walk in the street for 300 meters. Temple authority have kept a foot wear keeping center near the temple. So leave your chappal there. Buy the pooja material(Nails, black cloth, flowers, coconut mustard oil , one coin, horse shoe .antra, leaves which will cost you rs 250/-. etc..) there itself.. for vendors will charge you like mad saying all sort of things and rob you off 1000/-.. Now a days they r not allowing anyone to till the main sactrum. We need t pour the Oil near in big containers kept near Lord Shani, a machine arrangement takes the Oil and pour on the Lord continuously.. it was a wonderfull experience and felt a lot of peace cannot express in words i felt really relaxed after that.. would love to go again if god permits.....

We purchased a book and DVD about Lord Shani. There are no DOORS and WINDOWS to the houses of Shinganapur. The funny thing is that there are no doors even for bathrooms! :-) . The Sugar Cane Juice near Shinganapur tastes very good. you can find 100s of sugar cane sellers. sugar cane juice is extracted with the help of OX instead of machine. :-). 15rs per glass. We ate Guavas. The distance is around 70 Km from Shiridi. It took 1 hour 10 minutes for us.

“Exceptional”
Reviewed December 20, 2012

A great divine place with very good management. They have done away with the old system of taking bath there and putting on black dresses which was a lucrative source of fleecing money from the devotees by local shops. Now ladies can also go whereever the male can go.System of pouring oil has also improved.Security is there to help and guide you with good behaviour. It was a great and very pleasant and peaceful experience. The management deserves all appreciation for the steps taken towards efficient management.

“If religious go . . .”
Reviewed November 20, 2012

I didnt found this place as a tourist destination.
a divine place with a concept.
The story says that in a villlage of Shanishinganapur in a lake peoples found a black stone. They tried to pour it out from the lake but it was too difficult to get that stone out. Then Mama & bahnja (Mother's brother & yOu) tried to get that stone out, & stone came out.
Since then, peoples from there are celebrating the worshipness of that dieti. It is said that if Mama & Bhanja visit this place together it will be blessed.
