We were at the JW for a 4 day long weekend recently and had the duplex suite. Much can be written about the JW, awesome beach and the greatest aquamarine ocean views, the resort is amazing with a meandering swimming pool across the length of the resort, the service is great. If you love the water, the pool access rooms are probably a worthwhile investment. Food wise, breakfast has a great spread and is really good, the Olive restaurant is worth a visit - do try the spinach & goat cheese ravioli and the deli is an interesting pit stop for a quick satisfying bite.
On the flip side, the rooms are nice enough and quite comfortable but fall short of the premium-ness of the resort itself. The service at the front desk could do with some improvement, which is a bit of a shame given you begin here and the service everywhere else is great. The Takrai restaurant - Thai, was disappointing with below par food. You could find very competent to some pretty finger licking stuff in most places in Khao Lak, and some are truly sublime, and that makes Takrai that much more of a disappointment.
Overall, we would definitely recommend the JW at Khao Lak, a truly relaxing, wonderful place - a great escape from the daily hum drum of a busy life.
Hi, my family and I just got back from staying at this beautiful resort! We had a lovely family suite with a swimming pool access. The beach is great with a few little restaurants serving all sorts of dishes from Thai to Euro style meals, for those who do not wish to dine at the resort all of the time. Needless to say it is much cheaper to dine outside of the resort. Never the less the resort's breakfast is something out of this world. I must say it was the most impressive buffet breakfast we have had so far on our Thai trips. Staff is lovely, friendly and speak good English as well as other languages. Great spot for a family holiday. One thing that was a bit painful after a long flight was a 90min mini bus trip to the resort, it stretched the kids' patience a bit. It was worth the drive though! I would gladly go back there for another holiday.
We had the most amazing stay at the J W Marriott Khao Lak. We stayed 7 nights and no complaints about anything at all. The staff were so friendly. Nothing was too much trouble. A 3km long swimming pool!! Amazing. We had a poolside room with direct access to the pool. Food was fantastic. We met several managers all of whom were so great to talk to and deal with. They even remembered our names when they would meet. Huge compliments to manager Ty and his wife Kim. This kind of attitude comes from the top down. A beautiful experience in a beautiful part of the world.
Thank you to the JW team at Khao Lak......and they do work as a team.
Just back from a week's break at this amazing resort and I can honestly say that we really did not want to leave. We booked the hotel at a recent Travel Expo in Singapore. We weren't planning on going to Thailand but our 10 year old son was smitten with the beautiful Thai lady (and she with him) on the JW Marriott stand and so we followed his instinct and are so glad that we did. From that first encounter at the Expo stand, right through to checking out yesterday, the staff at the JW Marriott in Khao Lak were a pleasure to deal with...in particular the beautiful Orawan who took the initial booking, dealt with subsequent unforeseen changes to our booking and made us feel like VIP guests the whole time we were there. Every staff member we met just could not do enough for us and were helpful without being over bearing. For us, the staff and their hospitality made this a vacation to remember. Some reviews mention that the fixtures and fittings are not up to 5 star standard and I would agree that the rooms are not the most luxurious rooms I have stayed in BUT I personally do not go on holiday to spend my time in the bathroom analysing the fixtures and fittings so it really wasn't an issue for me. As a family of 6, the interconnecting deluxe pool access rooms suited us perfectly though we spent most of our time on the beach and only used the rooms to shower and sleep :). The buffet breakfast catered for everyone and even with the hotel at full occupancy, we never had to wait around for a table or queue for too long for anything. Our kids didn't really use the kids club though they did spend some time in the games room and loved it. Their verdict - we'll definitely be back and hopefully we will!
Stay 1 night on my Bangkok - Hatyai trip by car.
Arrived in the resort around 1pm, we got lunch at the small restaurant outside the hotel.
There's a mini market, some shop and restaurants outside the hotel's main entrance.
Checked in was fast and the staff informed me everything about the resorts very clear.
The room was big and nice. Balcony view to the swimming pool, with big sofa. Very nice to relax there.
Swimming pool open 24 hours and the size is16.000 square meter.
Beach was beautiful, no rocks around the beachfront.
Buffet breakfast with good variety but the taste a little bit tasteless.
Wifi was free with no password access everywhere at the resort. Parking space also free.
Overall, this is the best resort in Thailand that I ever stayed. Will be come back someday.
