Description: In the gentle valley of Konavle, in the lush greenery of the centuries old trees and on the banks of a clean stream named Ljuta, the time seems to have stopped. The National restaurant Konavoski Dvori resting in an ancient mill by the rumbling river not only has a unique location but also offers a tranquil ambiance. The cold Ljuta river during the summer months serves as a natural air-conditioning. It is a perfect place to spend a day enjoying the untouched nature, getting to know Konavle tradition, and eating a delicious food. When you visit the Konavoski Dvori, enjoy the excellent smoked ham, cheese kept in oil, young lamb and veal baked under the iron bell, home-baked bread, grilled trout and other national specialties of this renowned restaurant. Dishes are prepared here in the same traditional way as our grandmothers used to make them and the waiters are dressed in regional costumes.

“go there to look around but not for food”
Reviewed August 21, 2013

Based on the recommendations we've read we went to this place for a dinner. We were a bit surprised because despite the high season this huge restaurant was almost empty. After the dinner, we understood why. This restaurant is very well located (nice green area, waterfalls) but the food is horrible. Me and my husband have ordered grilled prawns and we both got sick about one hour after we left the place. A tourist trap. The real one.

“Simply wonderful”
Reviewed July 25, 2013

One of the simplest meals I've ever eaten - slow cooked lamb with roast potatoes - and one of the most delicious. The lamb is cooked in a bell, on top of and under hot coals and is just perfect. Prior to the meal, they served up their home baked bread, which was so good we had to take the remaining slices away with us, (secreted in napkins!) with a strange but fabulous cheesy butter. Along with a setting to die for, it just makes for a wonderful experience from start to finish. Our bill for three, including a bottle of very nice red wine, came to about £75.

“Excellent food, great experience!”
Reviewed July 16, 2013

This great restaurant offered my better half and me a great experience. Sounds made by the river beside us made the atmosphere even better and the food was delicious. Dalmatian ham (prsut), cheese, specially made meat and personel dressed in Croatian national dress made the whole experience unforgettable.

Definitely, something I would recommend because it's worth the invested money. Also, while you are there you must visit the place Konavle because it really nice.

“Beautiful Palace”
Reviewed July 16, 2013

Our guide recommended this restaurant (we orginally wanted to go to another one is Cavtat but he recommended this one as thr non tourist trap, where locals go to special occasions). He was totally correct - we adored this restaurants! It s located besides old stone water mill, in a charmin little village outside Cavtat. Make sure to get the table by the river - it s absolutely wonderful. The food was familz style and wonderful and the service was fantastic. after eating at all the fancz restaurants in Dubrovnik, this one still stands out as one of the best our vacation to Dubrovnik and Cavtat.

“Just Nice”
Reviewed June 16, 2013

This is a really hard review to do as we went here on recommendations and perhaps the time and weather was against a better evening.

We went on a Monday night which was unfortuantley wet and cold - once we got there we didn't actually think it was open as there were no outside lights on, I guess this is because no one would be sitting outside.

We were the only guests which again didn't help with the overall experience, it lacked any kind of atmosphere - however we were treated very politely.

The food was ok, but really quite greasey.

Sadly due to the lack of atmosphere, cold restaurant and average food we asked to take the remainder of our bottle of wine home after just 2 glasses.

I suspect on a hot day for a bus-party from Dubrovink or Cavtat it would work - it just didn't for us, we found a much nicer place just up the road!
