Although this resteraunt is in a different part of Leeds to where we live, we class it as our local its so good. Been dinning at Billy's since it opened, and can honestly say, we've never had a bad meal at all. There is a large car park provided which also has room for coaches. The service is excelent and second to none with very polite staff, who always come and ask you if all is OK after a short time, not when it's to late or after the meal. The menu is varried even though it is a F&C establishment, but mainly fish and chips and a selection of different fish is on offer. On this occasion my wife had Haddock, chips and mushy peas, and I had Scampy and chips which also comes with salad. Most meals come with buttered bread (2 full slices each), and Tea/Coffee/Cordial as did these. The Hadock was cooked to perfection and was pure white all the way through proving it was fresh, and the batter was nice and crispy. The Scampy was breaded and was excelent (no Scampy is not all the same, I have had some digusting stuff served to me) and was cooked to a tee. The chips as usual were also excelent, been crispy and not at all greasy. We dont have a starter or sweet now as we are are watching the callories, but when we used to, they were excelent and they have a great selection including fresh cakes/tarts and gateaux from the fridge. The resteraunt is always spotlessly clean and has has been rated 5* by the food standards agency. On paying you pay at the bar, and there is always a free goxs glacier fruit/mint sweet for you to help your self to, and/or a sweet lolly for the kiddies. If there is a negative, its that they dont provide the traditional Yorkshire fishcakes (fish sandwhiched between 2 large slices of potato, battered and deep fried) but would I not down grade it just for this. Visit and enjoy, you won't be disappointed. *****

This plaice has to be the finest fish & chip establishment in England. Murgatroyds ticks every single box in term of service, quality of food, ambiance. During a trip with a party of 15, two of them in the food industry we elected to try this famous fish & chip restaurant. I can not stress too highly the eating experience we enjoyed and can not wait to return for another enjoyable occasion. Just one other point our girlfriends are very critical of many establishment toilet facilities but when they visited the loos in this place they said they were the best they had ever come across. All in all five out of five if we could of give 10 out 10 we would. Once again thank you to all at Murgatroyds for a fantastic experience.

We were a party of four and very impressed with this restaurant. We all had regular haddock and chips and the fish, which were all generous portions were excellent, freshly cooked, lovely batter and not greasy. Our chips were a bit thick cut but still tasty and it was all served with bread and butter. Service was very good and friendly, we were shown to our table quickly and then our server soon took our order and served our meals. We had three glasses of wine and an orange juice with our meal and our bill was around £55.00, not particularly cheap but good value for what we had. There was a three course meal for seniors on the menu for less than £10 which we thought represented excellent value and something we may try another time as we will definitely visit this restaurant again.
