“lovely welcoming stay”
Reviewed May 5, 2013

We stayed here for two nights while attending a family party nearby. We were made to feel very welcome when we arrived by one of the owners Paul who showed us to our upstairs room in the annexe. We were really happy with our room and the lovely toiletries in the bathroom. Our daughter is nearly 17 and had a fold up bed in our room which she found little uncomfortable on the first night but once the owners realised she was not a young child they moved the bed round to give a bit more space and privacy and also put a mattress topper on which our daughter said made it much cosier. The breakfasts are delicious and nothing is too much trouble. Suzie is a great cook. The owners show much interest in what you have done and what your plans are. Would definitely stay here again.

We stayed at Primrose House for just one night to visit the local Newark antiques fair.
The double bedded room was really warm and comfortable , the bedlinen crisp and fresh, pillows soft and blackout blinds ensured we both had a good nights sleep . Our room was in the top "Cottage" - with a small kitchen, tea making facillities and a cooker - off which was a bath room with toiletries and an excellent hot shower. Home made bread and marmalade made for a great breakfast provided by helpful and friendly hosts ! We very much plan to return

We booked Primrose House because we could take our well behaved dog there. We found it very comfortable and clean, and the breakfast was lovely. It was easy for the dog to stay there. Parking is good. The shower was first class with very nice soap and shampoo.

We stayed at Primrose House whilst visiting family in Cotgrave. The owners were friendly and welcoming, our room with ensuite bathroom was clean and comfortable and even had a small kitchen with tea making facilities and a cooker. We stayed in the first floor room which was reached by a steep outside wooden staircase which felt a little rickety, so unsuitable for anyone with mobility issues, unfortunately the owner had not mentioned this when we booked, and I suffer from knee problems. The bed was comfortable, but we slept badly because the pillows were flat with little filling, the extra pillow in the wardrobe had no case and was badly stained. We stayed in February during a very cold spell and although the room was warm on arrival in the afternoon there was no heating at night and it did not go on until 7.30am so washing and dressing for the rather early breakfast, which was served between 7am and 8.30am, was not a pleasant experience in near arctic conditions, we felt this was totally unacceptable. The heating would of course not be an issue during the summer months. The breakfast was good with home made produce and a good pot of tea. Just one small thing to be aware of is that credit or debit cards are not accepted.

Room Tip: If you have mobility problems ensure that the room is on the ground floor.

Because they allow well behaved Dogs we chose Primrose House to stay for two nights while visiting friends in the area to celebrate a birthday. The two of us were very pleased and impressed with the accomodation and service. Plus we had a good nights sleep as the bed was very comfortable in the Cottage. Parking was secure and had easy access. Our hosts had the right touch being helpful but not overpowering and their dog is very well behaved and friendly.

Room Tip: The facilities in the Cottage were just right for the two of us and our Dog plus it wasnice and quie...

Great for our Daughter with kittens and feeding the ducks and geese. Breakfast was ok but different with very strong sausages but a great effort to impress. Bedroom was fine away from the main house and car was safe in the car park.

We stayed here as close to family on our way to France.

Would stay again
