“Great place at reasonable price”
Reviewed July 16, 2012

I will give Colle San Paolo 5-stars based on it having all the basics covered very well yet with a great price. Clean, lots to do, etc. Daughter attended the Art de Sole camp. She had a great time. She woke up in the morning early to tell me she is "ready to go to camp." Funny. Loved the common courtyard area, yet there was always a nook you could find if you wanted to be alone. Pool is great. Used the BBQ to grill some great steaks. Lots of cool towns nearby. The sisters that run the place are great. Olive oil is great too.

We stayed at Fontanelle in late June. The setting is spectacular, and the weather at that time of year is wonderful for relaxing by the pool during the day. In the early morning and evening it is cool enough to enjoy the hiking/mountain biking trails that start just behind the house. We were greeted with a bowl of freshly picked cherries from their own trees, as well as a bottle of their own olive oil. The views are gorgeous in every direction. Since it is a working farm, there was occasional tractor noise from the fields surrounding the house.

We had a mixed group including two families with young children and a bunch of adults. Fontanelle was wonderful for a group. The large common area and the pool allowed us to eat, socialize, and relax together, while still having separate apartments.

The English-speaking hosts are extremely warm and friendly, while still respecting guests' privacy. They anticipated our every need. I especially enjoyed the guided nature hike through the property and the surrounding hills

We did our own cooking, but my friends who came with their baby ordered breakfast and said it was delicious, especially the homemade apricot jam.

Room Tip: All of the apartments at Fontanelle were gorgeous. I didn't see the insides of the other villas...

My wife and two daughters (6 years old and 3 years old) and I stayed in the Fontanelle house and loved it. The gorgeous views from the pool made it a wonderful place to relax and recover. We joined my parents as well as my sister and several of her friends, and my daughters loved heading up and down the stairs to visit different relatives. We took advantage of the common room to cook several meals, and we took the Triulzi's advice on a fascinating day trip to Assisi and another to Isola Polvese. Another evening we took a brief hike up the hill to overlook Lake Trasimeno. What a relaxing trip for the adults and fun and engaging for the kids!

For the second time we went to Colle San Paolo. Last year we stayed @Fontanella (uphill), this year we celebrated our holiday @Molinella (more down the hill). The view from Fontanella is amazing, Molinella is more in the forest and more romantic. At both places your money is well spent. The Triulzi family will help you out to have a fabulous stay. We had a fantastic and relaxing holiday, enjoyed the pool, had great evening BBQ's, did a truffle hunting tour and ate a lot truffles afterwards.

Room Tip: Go to Fontanella for the great open view. Go to Molinella for a bit more romantic and chic stay. Mol...

My husband, 16-month-old and I stayed at Colle San Paolo for two weeks during the off season to celebrate my 30th birthday. It truly felt like our own private olive grove in the hills of Umbria. The property was gorgeous and the views were breathtaking. Monica and Sabina were fabulous hostesses; providing directions to places, stocking shelves with toys for our toddler, helping us acquire a cell phone, towing our rental car when it got stuck, even bringing medicine for my husband when he came down with a cold! Additionally, Colle San Paolo is located in the perfect spot for convenient day trips. During our stay we visited Rome, Florence, Pisa, Sienna, Perugia, Chianti, and multiple cities surrounding the location. I highly recommend Colle San Paolo and look forward to our next visit!

I Casali di Colle San Paolo (house Fontanelle) is a wonderfully restored farmhouse with a beautiful view overlooking the olive estate and countryside. The 5 appartments are clean, nicely decorated and are all well stocked for basic living. The common area with internet access was a perfect place to end a day after enjoying the beautiful Umbrian towns and sights. The owners are extremely helpful and speak fluent English. We did not need a lot of service, but it was nice to know that if we wanted more information or help it was readily available. Their olive oil is fantastic and it was a nice treat to have a bottle to use in our kitchen. A great location also if you are into treking or mountain biking. A week was not enough and we plan to come again soon.

Colle San Paolo is a beautifully remodeled group of farmhouses on acreage of olive trees, hills and valleys in a quiet area with many things to do and places to see. The owners are wonderfully friendly, accommodating and fluent in English. The amenities are everything you would need and the apartments are fresh and spotlessly clean. You could spend weeks here and feel you needed more time to see and do everything the charming area has to offer. We are well traveled and highly recommend Colle San Paolo and plan to return many times and for longer visits! The winter weather this year (January) was warm enough for a sweater or light jacket until dusk. A welcome break from the heat and winter tourists in Melbourne Beach and Anna Maria Island Florida! You will LOVE this place....
