The generator wasn't working when we first arrived so they guided us down using a handful of small candles. We thought this was a bit off to start with but then saw the adventure in it. At the bottom by the deep pool they put candles all around on the rocks etc...and floated them out in the water. We then had a great swim in the fresh water of the cave and jumping off the rocks. Definitely the highlight of my time in Tonga!!!

Talk to the keeper about the entrance about the entrance fee, you might get away with a littler less than the hefty 10 Pa'anga fee, especially if there are other people around and he has to run the generator for lighting anyway! The cave is interesting, well lit and the inside pool makes for a refreshing dip into the clear water!

The caves are worth the visit by themselves, but the pool is the "icing on the cake." Take the opportunity to swim in underground, fresh water - you won't regret it!

our 14yr old local guides (on school holidays!) took us into the caves and through to the pools. Bit of an experience walking underground but really worth it. Awesome caves await!
