“Lots of style needs a little more substance”
Reviewed September 15, 2013

We used this restaurant twice whilst we were on holiday. The first time was to order takeaway pizza's, they were good but not as good as the Watch House Cafe. The second time was when we reserved a table for our last night in West Bay (running out of local restaurants to try). The food was pretty good as the children enjoyed their meals and my wife had the melanzane parmigiana with a salad which she liked. I had the king prawn starter shared with my wife and the seabass which were good. The service is a little up and down, the younger members of staff didn't seem to have a clue about clearing tables after eating, being welcoming, maybe they haven't eaten out much! Luckily for the most part we were served by a more mature member of staff and she was very proficient. First impressions really do count so would suggest more staff training.

“We loved it!!”
Reviewed September 14, 2013 via mobile

Great coffee, great position and lovely food too. We've been here 3 times in the past week and never found fault. Far better than Seagulls down the road from which we escaped one evening to have dessert and coffee. Deserves better recognition - surprised to read some of the latest reviews. We paid £75 for three courses, aperitifs, wine and coffee. Lovely place

“The Hot Chocolate IS AMAZING! But that's all I'm afraid :(”
Reviewed September 12, 2013

The staff are Lovely, Lovely, Lovely and their Hot Chocolate is an absolute must but never ever eat the food - it's simply awful. From the bland pasta to the micro ingredient sparse, burned, bland pizza. Yellow bland chips with bland burger on the side and badly done standard menu unhealthy swimming in grease rubbish.
OH, my apologies, I almost forgot another plus - they allow dogs in!! :) Massive plus point...... but oh dear the food :(
This place has great potential but the food sadly lets them down.

“made it a nice day out”
Reviewed September 11, 2013

Had a day out at West Bay and saw Ellipse which looked inviting. The staff were very welcoming and friendly. Great service and lovely food, value for money and good size portions. Will be going back.

“Disappointly Average”
Reviewed September 10, 2013 via mobile

Long wait to order, seemed disorganised at front of house. Food took 20 minutes to arrive. Burger overdone and consequently lacked any real taste. Seemed more like a kennels than a restaurant, lots of dogs in the eating areas. Overall very disappointed, when restaurant has such a lovely setting & potential. Would probably use for a coffee again but not a meal.
