This was our second visit. The food and service are excellent and we love the fact that our two dogs are welcomed. Fab location on the beach.

“Charming dog friendly beach side cafe”
Reviewed May 29, 2013

It's our first visit to West Bay. The weather was cold and windy (woolly hat and gloves!) As we were resigned to eating outside, we were delighted to find this place that allows dogs in the awning enclosure of the patio. The staff were friendly and service was good. We had the mussels and their seafood stew. Delicious. Worth a return visit in the future.

“Preferable to Hive Beach Cafe ... just”
Reviewed May 28, 2013

The Watch House Cafe is the smaller sister of the better known and bigger Cafe / Restuarant, Hive Beach Cafe.

They are both fantastic, but I think having visited The Watch Tower four or five times now, this one shades it for me. Because it's not quite so well known, and tucked away it always seems easier to get in for starters. Whilst both are situated right on the beach, I also prefer the location and the more serene atmosphere inside.

Whilst not a huge fan of traditional fish and chips, I had tempura battered hake, hand cut chips and homemade tartare sauce and it was thoroughly delicious. It's reasonably priced, and they also do a lovely range of cakes and puddings, as well as other goodies such as bags of traditional sweets, an ice cream parlour, and pizza oven.

I can't recommend it enough.

“Another lovely lunch”
Reviewed May 28, 2013

Last time we visited here it was raining but the quality of the food shone through, this weekend the sun was out it made it even better, we sat outside my whole plaice was amazing and once again it didn't disappoint. If you love seafood it's well worth a trip here, we travelled quite a distance to get there but love the place. Fab rustic bread, fresh fish, daily specials what's not to like and not too expensive either.
