Camping is great but not everyone has the right kit or the inclination to sacrifice comfort for the great outdoors. Well here you don't need to think too hard about it. If you are seasoned campers you can just turn up and choose your spot amongst the olive groves - the views are pretty spectacular from any position here. You just get on with it and do your own thing. If you are camping newbies, or just lacking in the all paraphernalia, the alternatives are many and well considered. We rented a wonderfully spacious bell tent. It was big enough for a double mattress plus a single for our little one. Proper sheets and duvets plus towels are all provided. The loos are (British standard) CLEAN - sorry but these things are important and need to be stated - and there are hot showers available in a newly built block. There is a hairdryer provided, pots and pans for cooking, WIFI, somewhere to recharge your iPad, a comfy barn area with books, toys and a TV / DVD player, pick your own fruit and veg, maps and guides to help you explore the area etc etc etc etc. What haven't these wonderful people thought of? Jacqui and Kevin are laid back and welcoming, but super organised and clearly have a talent for simply 'getting it right'. As a first experience for a 5-year old it was just what we wanted. She loved it and we'll be sure to go back again very soon. PS I'm speaking as a resident of our lovely Abruzzo but for those of you who have yet to come here I must add that you will not be disappointed. Abruzzo is very real Italy and an absolute joy for all who visit. What are you waiting for?

We have just got back from a lovely break staying at Kokopelli campsite. This place is just awesome, Kevin and Jacqui couldn't have done more for us, from offering us wine on arrival to making sure we had enough fresh fruit and veg, and taking us out to dinner with them for some perfectly wonderful Italian cuisine.
The campsite itself is set amongst some breathtaking scenery and the amenities are excellent. clean hot showers, clean toilets, great washing up facilities and a communal living room with comfy sofas, a heater and cooking facilities should you need it. We stayed in one of the bell tents amongst the olive trees and now its the only way to camp under canvas for us :) mattresses on the floor, big warm duvets and plenty of room, our 3 year old loved it!
Highlight of the stay was watching Kevin busting some moves with our 3 year old daughter in the bar at the bottom of the ski lift, I think it was her highlight too!
I would recommend this place if you love camping, love great views, love walking, love being just 30 mins from the beach, love great company, appreciate great hosting skills, love Italian food and wine, and like being off the beaten track. If you are looking for a large commercialised camp site with holiday clubs and morning aqua aerobics this place is not for you but if your looking for a perfect getaway from the rat race and want to properly immerse your selves in some Italian culture then Kokopelli Camping wont disappoint.
We will definitely be back. Thank you Jacqui and Kevin.

First visit to Kevin and Jacqui's simply magnificent location. What a place to rest and locate for local walking, climbing, skiing, and just enjoying the views. Wonderful hosts with excellent amenities and always willing to go that extra mile. Its a must visit if in the vicinity of majella mountains.

Room Tip: The "Barn" is very comfortable, although the tents are also very well equipped.

As we drove along the magnificent approach to Kokopelli Camping the promise of wonderful views to come was strong. On arrival our hopes were fulfilled with a magnificent view to the snowfields to the North East and the snow capped peaks to the West. the small village of Seramonecesca lay below us. We drew straws for the accommodation for the six of us and, quite honestly, there was no preference as all the accommodation is superb from the room in the barn to the apartment in the house to the well equipped tents in the beautiful olive groves. Washing facilities and loo facilities all modern and spotless and within easy reach as were the cooking facilities. There are walks from the camp into the magnificent scenery, all covered by an easy to read guide, or, if you prefer guided by Jacqui or Kevin, skiing and snow shoeing in easy reach followed by an afternoon on the beach (30 minutes). Kevin and Jacqui have made this their home and enthuse enjoyment and no wonder. There is a room in the barn in case of inclement weather equipped with toys, games books and a TV and a heater just in case. We were there in March and the weather could not have been better. The village has a couple of bars and a couple of places to eat, one in particular was superb and reasonable and other villages are within reach. This is a place you literally do not want to leave. La dolce vita!

Room Tip: The apartment is superb, but, if you want to experience views when you awake, the real noises of nig...

This was my third visit to Kokopelli and it just keeps getting better and better! The campsite is in a marvellous location in the Majella mountains with stunning views and a peaceful tranquility it is hard to find these days. Kev and Jaqs are supreme hosts - they really do make you feel part of their family and with the latest addition of Finn the dog (see photo) what is there not to like? I hope it will not be long before I return, there is so much more to see. Oh, and as an added bonus, we skied the mountain only 30 minutes drive from Kokopelli at a total cost of 30 Euros for a day's ski hire/lift passes etc.

When we arrived at kokopelli we were greeted by Jacqs and Kevin, who welcomed us to their home. The location is absolutely stunning with far reaching views. With a choice of camping styles there is something for everybody. We actually stayed in the main house in a room which was very tastefully furnished with en- suite. Jacqs and Kevin's knowledge of the area is astounding and with the odd glass of wine we talked about our plans to explore this most beautiful part of Italy.
We would recommend you look at their web site for more information.
Would we return, most definitely and very soon.
Happy new year guys and keep up the good work.

Kokopelli is a small and friendly campsite on the north / northeastern side of the Majella mountains in Abruzzo. It's an amazing area, with beautiful walks in the mountains and beech woods, great food as always in Italy, and off the main tourist trail.

When we arrived late in the dark we had a lovely warm welcome from Kevin and Jaqs, the owners, who live on site and are always on hand with useful tips for exploring the area. They've worked hard to create this little camping oasis, and I loved my time there, camping amongst the olive trees. I brought my own tent but there are also some great canvas bell tents available to rent, as well as a (stationary) campervan. There are good washing / cooking facilities and a sitting room, it's all very relaxed, and you can walk into the hills straight from the campsite.

Kevin and Jaqs have spent a lot of time exploring the area and can give excellent advice on walks. I recommend looking at their website and blog which gives some good ideas of what you can do in the local area. I hope to return before too long.
