The Palazzo Leopoldo is the perfect small hotel in Tuscany. The rooms were very spacious and the hotel is lovely, with a fantastic view off the back terrace. The best part though, were the staff, who consistently went over and above for us booking wine tastings, recommending restaurants and having an answer for every request. A special thanks to Sylvie and Daniele who we mostly dealt with, you were so fantastic! Thank you for helping make our stay in Radda one to remember.
Of all the places we stayed in Italy, this was definitely at the top!

We were welcomed from the first moment we walked in the door by Sylvia, a bubbling Italian who couldn't do enough for us ( she made the experience extra special). An amazing room with a view to die for out over the rolling Tuscan hills. Breakfast is just delicious and sitting on the terrace, spectacular ! Central position to all of the other Tuscan towns and plenty of choice within the town itself to eat. Must recommend the two restaurants connected to the Palazzo- delicious food and authentic menus cooked by true chefs. We stayed for 6 nights, but could have easily stayed for more, loved it !
PS: Don,t forget to visit the pool, certainly worth getting wet for !

Room Tip: All rooms are different ,ask for view

Six friends stayed at this hotel in Radda in Chianti. Three of us stayed in a single room and three stayed together in a suite. The hotel, which was formerly a large residence/mansion, was charming, spacious, very clean and well appointed. The staff was extremely pleasant, helpful and attentive and they had good suggestions about places to see, dining and shopping options. The rooms were all different - but all were quite large, some have fireplaces, some have beautiful views, and windows that opened. My bathroom was huge - but the shower was a very tiny enclosure. My bed was not comfortable, and the safe did not work, but there was a drawer that locked with a key, a lot of dresser space, and a television that worked and received CNN. My room (and two others) was attached to an expansive sitting room with a kitchenette, flat screen television and dining table. The dining room, common living room and terrace were absolutely lovely...and breakfasts were a good value; quite wonderful, with a large selection of items, including excellent American coffee and made-to-order fresh eggs. The six of us arranged for a cooking class which was held in the hotel kitchen - it was fabulous; one of my favorite things ever to do on a trip. The teachers were outstanding and the food magnificent. Definitely worth doing with a group. Radda is a wonderful location if you want to explore Tuscany from a base - during our four nights there we visited several towns, wineries, shops and a terrific place to buy ceramics (Ceramiche Rampini) nearby . The hotel restaurant was quite convenient and very good - as was La Botte di Bacco, another restaurant in Radda around the corner from the hotel. The town itself is small, but charming and quiet - with picturesque views and some nice shops and restaurants. If you go have a GPS! Signs are few; maps are hard to follow, roads are narrow and winding - i wouldn't even try it in the evening!

Well located hotel in small town - good for exploring the chianti region. Quirky, historic building - our room was large and rustic. Staff are friendly and offer advice for wine tours. Breakfast was fine but could be improved a bit eg there was no fresh orange juice or coffee - other hotels we stayed in provided both.

This hotel is one of three Tuscan hotels of the Ross group. We spent two nights staying in Colle di val d'Elsa at Palazzo San Lorenzo a restored 17th century building with modern interior design. We decided to drive through Chianti and stay in Radda in Chianti at Palazzo Leopoldo. The two hotels could not be more different, the first had contemporary, stylish furnishings with the latest in modern bathroom fittings. Palazzo Leopoldo on the other hand has been faithfully restored keeping as much of the original structure and furnishings as possible. There is no lift, our host took hold of our bags while my husband was parking the car and carried them both up several flights of stairs. He had to park the car about a five minute walk from the hotel which is a small price to pay to stay in a beautiful medieval village. The room was large with a dining table and concealed kitchen which we didn't use. The views across Chianti were stunning changing with the sun. Wifi is free on the hotel's computer. We were told the signal was not strong enough to use our own computer in our room but we managed to get a signal with our trusty MacBook. My main complaint would be the bathroom which had no bath tub (requested) and a very tight shower cubicle. I doubt that a large person would shower comfortably. The bathroom did not warrant a four star rating. Also the pillows were very uncomfortable which seemed odd after staying at their sister hotel where the pillows were perfect. The couple who run the hotel were very helpful and obviously proud of this hotel which is quite unique. There's even an original chapel. Radda in Chianti is definitely the pick of the villages in Chianti.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view.

Thank you very much for taking the time to leave your beautiful comment on Tripadvisor. We are very happy that you enjoyed your stay with us and were satisfied with our services.

Ross Hotels Group has 4 hotels in Tuscany: Palazzo Leopoldo, Palazzo San Niccolò, L'Ultimo Mulino and Palazzo San Lorenzo and we thank you having chosen two of them: Palazzo Leopoldo and Palazzo San Lorenzo

As you rightly noticed, Palazzo Leopoldo has been faithfully restored keeping as much of the original structure and furnishings as possible. This has meant building bathrooms without bathtub, in fact, no room has tub in the hotel, and no large like in a modern hotel.

We sincerely thank you for all your annotations: our first aim is increasing even a good service!!

Warmest regards from Chianti!!

In the village of Radda, this is a lovely hotel, with spacious rooms and am amazing view of Chianti from the terrace, where breakfast is available. The staff are mainly courteous and helpful, although a little harrassed sometimes! Some rooms have only tiny windows and no view, so choose carefully and ask for a view. I had an attic room and there is no handrail on the last, uneven, staircase, which could be dangerous after a couple of glasses of wine! Breakfast was exceptional and the public rooms are clean and well furnished.

Room Tip: not the attic, and ask for a view and a big window

We had a beautiful 2 night stay at Pallazzo Leopoldo, the hotel is intimate and romantic and the staff is attentive. We requested a cooking lesson for the next evening and even being short notice , the staff put it together for us. We had a lovely time in the kitchen with Paola and her son John Matthew, cooking together was wonderful but even better was having the opportunity to sit and take a meal with these lovely people and talk on a personal level about so many things. It was our only real connection to hear what life is truly like for the people living in this very agricultural region. What a special memory we have!
