Review of Castello di Radda

Castello di Radda
Reviewed June 17, 2013

We received a tour of this fairly new winery from Angelika, she has to be one of the most knowledgeable staff I have encountered. She had worked in the wine business for many years, and it certainly was obvious. The winery was opened in 2008 I believe, so everything is new and state of the art. We arrived very close to closing time, but were treated as if we they had all day to show us around. The wine was also wonderful!

We were staying at the My One Hotel Radda and were recommended a trip to this winery. What a wonderful experience. We were greeted by a lovely German lady (sorry didn't get her name). She proceeded to give us a one on one wine tasting experience. During this the winery's neighbours came in to buy a whole heap of wine, it was lovely to chat to them and see that even the neighbours like the winery.
After our wine tasting she shut the winery and took us to the cellars for a tour and walked us through the entire process from picking to labeling. We bought a couple of bottles of Chianti Classico Reservi and were then allowed to walk around wherever we wanted so we went up to the top field to look at the vines from which our wine was made.
In all a very memorable experience, the only downside is we cant buy the wine in the UK. So I guess we will just have to go back.

We visited this winery becsause we saw the winery's products in the stores. On arrival we were greated by a very friendly person offered to either let us tast the wien or do a brief tour beofre tasting. She recommended the tour because it was harvest time. Slected the tour and was not idsappointed. The tour was interesting, informative and just the right time.
After the tour,, we tried the diffent wines from the area as well as the wines made at two other places the owners had across Italy.

Would recommend the tour.

Great winery, much more personable than some of the bigger ones. Visit included tour, questions, tasting and ended up buying. Really informative. Owned by the Burreta family to add interest.

This was a nice winery in the area. It had a "bigger" feel than the smaller self owned wineries. They took us on a nice tour of the facilities and let us sample the Chianti wines for sale. We thought they were good but not enough to buy any.
