“Cosy Traditional Cottage”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 27, 2013 for a stay in August 2013

Cooga Cottage is a very pretty traditional cottage. The furnishings were fairly comfortable and well laid out. The Kitchen had more than enough equipment to cover every culinary requirement. We only used the double bedroom on the ground floor, the bed was very comfortable, my only suggestion would be a lighter weight duvet for the summer months. The garden was truly beautiful with plenty of seating to relax with a glass of wine on a warm evening.

The village of Doon has plenty of small shops for purchases of Bread/Newspapers/Milk etc. There are a number of pubs but not much in the way of traditional music. We had a few meals at Preachers Restaurant, this place is a jewel in the crown. The standard of food is superb, Sunday lunch @ €25.00 for 4 courses. Noel Keane is the Head Chef, I can highly recommend his Risotto.

We found the location good for both sightseeing and visiting family as it is close to the N24. We visited Cliffs of Moher and the Burren, which were both amazing.

Tom is a generous host, he is helpful without being intrusive which is just as it should be.

“A truly idyllic cottage set in fantastic grounds”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 13, 2013 for a stay in July 2013

The cottage was easy to find with Tom's directions. We were met by Tom with the keys, and he showed us around the cottage. He had thought of everything to make our stay perfect, right down to the milk in the fridge for a nice cup of tea!
The photos do not do the cottage justice, it was better than imagined. Everything had been thought of, hair drivers, shopping bags, towels, guide books, every kitchen gadget you could possibly need and much much more. The well maintained garden was a fantastic place to sit at any time of the day, especially at the end of the day to relax.
The cottage was immaculate and in a fantastic place to use as a base to tour Ireland with easy access to most routes.
We had a fantastic stay, with hotter than average temperatures, but the warm welcome and Tom's friendliness, has made this a place we would definitely want to return to.

“A home from home.....and so much more.”

I recently stayed at Cooga cottage with my family. I selected the cottage based on positive reviews on various websites, and the fact that the cottage is registered with the Irish Tourist Board. The cottage is ideally located if you want to explore southern Ireland. A lot of new roads have been built in recent years and they make the journey to the major towns much easier. The owner of the cottage, Tom, lives nearby and has an interesting 100 year history with the house. Tom was a lovely man and provided an exceptional service from start to finish. Booking was easy and the cottage itself was simply a home from home. Tom has a visitor book in the cottage which has positive reviews going back to the 90's, from all over the world. Everything you could think of has been covered, even the tooth picks! We are not used to being provided with so many extras. This included shampoo, dishwasher tablets, ear buds and even milk left in the fridge for our arrival! The cottage and grounds are in excellent condition. It's clean, cosy and secure. The area is peaceful and the views are amazing. We only paid for the energy we used based on meter readings. You can walk to the pleasant village of Doon or take a drive to other villages and absorb the lovely views. The garden is huge and would be great for sitting out in the warmer weather. Overall we had a great time and cannot fault any aspect of the visit. Well done Tom for going the extra mile and setting the bar for customer service.

“Fabulous location to call home while exploring Ireland”

Cooga Cottage is a treasure, situated near Limerick in the lovely quiet village area of Doon, it is the perfect home base location for experiencing the lower half of Ireland. The cottage is hardly a cottage – it is a 3 bedroom home with a full bathroom, kitchen, washer and dryer, absolutely filled with every conceivable item one could possibly require including loads of pots and pans, various knives, whisks, kettle, coffee makers, microwave (an outside garden pot includes fresh herbs such as parsley, rosemary, mint, chives, etc., quality bed linens, towels, even soap, shampoo, laundry detergent and toilet paper, Tom, the owner has thought of everything. Positioned on a large fully landscaped property with gated driveway you can park your vehicle right outside the door and the outside lawn furniture offers the perfect setting to enjoy a glass of wine after a day of exploring (you also get to see the stunning church next door through the kitchen window!). A short stroll into town and you have neighbourhood pubs (we really liked “Kellys”), Chinese take away, pharmacy, convenience shops (big grocery store/mall is about a 15 minute drive away) plus loads of friendly folks. Tom lives only 2 driveways away if you need him and the rental home is full of reference books and travel maps to use during your stay. My wife and I have been renting vacation homes for over 10 years now and Cooga Cottage is among the best accommodations that we have had the pleasure to stay in. Thank-you Tom!
