This is one of my favourite places to walk the dog. Lovely views over the Thames Estuary, challenging walking terrain and a piece of history. Great! Recommended for a picnic with the family too

This is such a nice walk from Leigh and the ruins aren't bad either. We frequently visit during the spring and summer months.

We have lived in South Essex for 30+ yrs and this was our first visit to Hadleigh Castle and Country Park. We had a lovely walk, enjoyed the fresh air and views, and finished up at the excellent Salvation Army tea rooms. Brilliant, and we will return to see more!

A lovely well kept beauty spot late evening visit showed plenty of glow worms.

A day visit on a nice day is glorious with views right along the Thames.

We also visited the Salvation Army tea rooms next door where we had a light snack served by Special Needs trainees who were excellent.
The premises can only be described as fantastic and much needed by young trainees employed there and trained there.

Well worth a visit, open every day including Sundays.

Built around 1230 Hadleigh Castle is a really picturesque location looking out over the Thames estuary and located in Hadleigh Country park. It's really nice for walking, though the castle's remains are pretty tumbledown and not a great deal of the castle remains now. There's currently work going on to develop the course for the 2012 Olympics Mountain iking event, so maybe more facilities will be opening up soon.
