San Savino is a tiny, yet lively town, and it was wonderful to live there for a few days in this self-catering apartment. The flat was spacious, and provided us with all we needed in a four-day stay. The roof terrace was worth the price alone, looking out over Lago Trasimeno, the bird-filled reeds along the shore, and multiple stunning sunsets. The locale is only a five minute drive from the highway, which provides good access to many of Umbria's famous places (30 minutes to Assissi), as well as those of southern Tuscany (1 hour to Sienna). And yet it's off the beaten path, so you feel immersed in authentic life versus being overwhelmed by the crowds in other areas.
