I'm reluctant to share this lovely find and want to keep it to myself, but the owners and the island are so nice they deserve full marks.
We had a standard room with balcony overlooking the lovely bay, kettle, fridge, good shower, air con, fan.
Perfect weather, peace, quiet and relaxation. Spotlessly clean. Very welcoming host who shared tips and good addresses where to eat, etc., and also the plums and apricots from the garden.
Votsi is perfectly placed to visit this small island, close to the harbour and the old village.
Not much to do but if you want to soak up the rays, walk, relax, swim in perfectly clear waters (no sand, just pebbles and sea urchins, bring shoes), watch the boats moor up and enjoy traditional taverna fodder, this is the place for you. Avoid August when the world and his wife descend.

My boyfriend and I have been visiting Alonissos every summer for three years now and we have stayed each time at the cozy Pension Oniro. It's location is perfect, with a magnficent view of Votsi Bay and close enough to the port town of Patitiri. The small but quant studios each have a great view from the balcony and also has the option of connecting with the studio next door as we did with another couple we were traveling with. The owners, Litsa and John are friendly and accomodating, always with a warm smile and ready to recommend places to eat and visit.

We chose votsi for the peace and quiet and were very disappointed. They are constructing new sea defences so there is heavy machinery at work all day. Noisy and smelly. The room is lovely, we had a small stove and pan, free tea and coffee and a bottle of water even though we only had a room, not a studio.we feel desperately sorry for the owners as they couldn't have been more helpful. The room is clean, well appointed with fridge, hairdryer, aircon and a nice quiet fan for nighttime. But the craning of boulders and scurrying of trucks means that there is no way to enjoy the little harbour beach or tavernas during the day. It stops for a couple of hours in the afternoon then starts again. Thankfully it is easy to get a taxi to nearby beaches, mind you everyone except us seems to hire a car or a bike. Either way during the day time it's best not to be outside in Votsi. Evenings and Sunday's are lovelyand quiet. Work is expected to be going on all summer 2015.

Room tip: All the rooms have private balconies. The double glazing keeps the construction noise out .

We chose Votsi for the peace & quiet and were not disappointed; accommodation was very clean with great sea views from the balcony. The owner was friendly & helpful and made us most welcome. Local beach was 3 minutes walk; rather pebbly but crystal clear swimming waters and very quiet. The port was a pleasant 30 minute walk, away from the main road past the next small bay up & down the steps. There were 4 tavernas in Votsi but only one open in September and another 2 in the next bay, 15 minute walk; street lights; no need for a torch. Whilst on Alonissos a trip up to the old town in the hills is a must do on the local bus service from the port. If staying in Votsi ask the driver to drop you at the first stop on returning to the port and then you can have a short walk back into the village on the main road. We really enjoyed our short stay at Pension Oniro and can definitely recommend. The only negative is that we were not offered a port transfer on departure so had a 8 euro taxi transfer.

Room tip: Ask for a balcony with sea views.

These rooms have pride of place on this harbour...the views are just perfect and undisturbed by any noise from any roads or tavernas. It reminded us of the Greece of 30 years ago. We paid 60 euros per night. We did see some fairly ghastly alternatives in Votsi complete with cockroaches so be warned! The hosts Litsa and John are lovely; warm and welcoming and willing to help out with lifts to and from the harbour and making phone calls. The environment is spotlessly clean and the couple work hard to keep the place in good order. We had the top flat which is very spacious with a very large living room/kitchen and a separate double bedroom. It has large roof terrace which was great. The bedroom of this flat is featured in a photo on this site....the downside is that this room has no roof space and the windows are double glazed and without shutters. At night the flat was stuffy and we found it difficult to sleep as the air con was noisy and didn't shut off at the required temperature. It is worth taking this into consideration and taking one of the rooms ( which have some kitchen facilities) if heat is an issue for you.Otherwise we enjoyed our stay and would recommend this friendly family run pension if you want a simple authentic Greek experience.

Room tip: Avoid roof flat unless you are good at coping with the heat.
