“Enjoyable day, but not very special”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 6, 2014 via mobile

Summary: With the family we had a pleasant day with some nice scenery, staff were friendly but the amount of information and instruction was disappointing and price was too high for a day of paddling.
Based on the very positive reviews we booked a day trip even though it was quite expensive: over $400 for a family with 2 children. We were in quite a big group and maybe it was because of that but we hardly got any instructions on how to kayak, what were safe parts near the coast for beginners and what not, just 'if you do not want to you do not have to go near the rocks'. The information about the surroundings was limited to 'these isles are formed by glaciers'. When paying it turned out that there was still tax to be added making it nearly $500 for a day of quiet paddling, what I find pretty outrageous.
This all sounds very negative, but as said the staff was friendly and especially around Tangiers island there were some pretty parts and also the weather was nice so we enjoyed the day, it just didn't live up to the expectation/price.

“Kayak safety course”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 2, 2014

My husband and I had a great time during our 1 day safety course. Gayle was very knowledgable and attentive. She found the perfect kayaks for us based on our experience, and really helped my DH overcome his nervousness. Instruction included water rescue, which I think every kayaker should know. It was a perfect day, so glad we did it. Would love to do another 2 day course (when my muscles stop hurting :)

“Kyackers & wannabe kyackers check this out!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 15, 2014

We came across a Coastal Adventures leaflet at Halifax Airport and fitted a day into our schedule. It was the 25th anniversary weekend which offered kyack tours and clinics. One did a tour and the other two clinics -paddle stroke improvement and rescue. We were both very satisfied. Scott, Gayle and all the helpers made us very welcome in a relaxed manner and provided us with a good breakfast and lunch. All the gear was provided if you didn't have your own. Beautiful area. Go for it.

“Great kayaking”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 15, 2013

We had the best day of our trip being introduced to sea kayaking. Very relaxed but helpful tuition making it very easy to relax and gain confidence. Felt like going out with a friend. Beautiful scenery and wild life. Wonderful out on the water seeing kingfishers and sea eagles. Would really recommend it. Not to be missed. Then finish off with a hot tub to wind down.many thanks Gail.

“A charming place to stay.”

The drive along the coastal highway is stunning. There are lots of charming communities to visit. I recommend Sheet Harbour for places to eat. Had two great meals here.
