Four of us traveled from Bran to Sibiu and Copsa Mare....visited several Saxon villages, and stayed at Giovanna Bassetti's great guesthouse in Copsa Mare, incredibly clean, superb food, quite authentic , excellent service, much better than Prince Charles Guesthouses in Viscri.

Like a travel back in time where everything was less complex. We had a very nice time in Copsa Mare Guesthouse living a bubble with no stress. We were in the yellow house in kind of a small suite with one room with a child bed, a bathroom and a walking closet and the main room.
The place to have meal is in the same old farm, beautifully renovated with a mix of contemporary and old furniture. We had a very good dinner prepared for us with typical Romanian dishes and the breakfast was really nice with home made marmelade!
Overall a very pleasant experience, that comes with at a rather expensive price though.

We had two pleasant comfortable days in the guesthouse, with a large room and amenities including a fire, which was lit the first night. Comfortable bed, plenty of space, good shower.
Simona, the manager/housekeeper is an excellent cook, specializing in local produce. Her kitchen is full of red peppers, tomatoes, strawberries etc. Breakfasts are substantial, with fruit, eggs and home-made jams. Dinners are varied but always include soup and end with a sponge tart or pancake, with usually a pork or lamb main dish. I can recommend Romanian wine, especially the reds.
Copsa Mare is a perfect small village in the Saxon style, with re-tiled roofs on all the houses. There is a fortified church worth visiting and beautiful countryside all around. Our room was €122; dinner is €20.

We went biking in the hills and old Saxon villages for one week with The Slow Cyclist. One of our evenings we stayed in the Copse Mare Guesthouse. We were a group of 10. The guesthouse consisted of different houses in the village all done up in the traditional Saxon style. Very comfortable with good beds and bathrooms. We stayed an additional 2 nights at the end of our trip as advised by our organiser.

What we were most impressed with was the food. Simone managed the houses and did the cooking. Everything was homemade from jams and fruit compotes, local yoghurt, eggs, potato bread, local sheep and goats cheeses for breakfast and the most delicious traditional dishes for dinner with apple or pear cake or traditional cheesecake. 3 courses always!

If you are looking for good food, peace and quiet, fantastic walking with a guide, beautiful countryside, this is the place to go. The wild flowers are magnificent this time of year. You may bump into the occasional English person!

Lovely guesthouse in a lovely small village. This place was absolutely refreshing after spending few days in bigger cities.

Room is large, pretty, comfortable, and so quiet, we had the best sleep in a while!!

Simona (host) is very kind and prepared an amazing breakfast full of fresh local products.

Only downside is that it is a bit expensive considering Romanian standards and we didn't have any hot water in our room (we guessed the switch was off because it hasn't been used in a while)

But other than that, a great experience, would probably return again if we get back in the area.
