Overall a very good place, good food, good location, good rooms, good service. Only suggestion would be to clean the room a bit more properly, especially around the corners and the windows..... This is my second trip there and most certainly, not the last!

We visited this property now twice in last couple of years and can't stop admiring how well maintained it is. The property looks greener, cleaner and better equipped to handle crowd.

It is at 3-3.5 hrs driving distance from Pune and the roads are in a reasonable shape. The trafic is not bad. If you keep in mind that you can not reach this place from Pune in less than 3 hrs and not more than 4hrs, you will enjoy the journey. The driving directions on their website are very useful and I am not sure you will be able to reach the place without those directions.

The village, Nagao seems to have gotten lodges in almost every house and beer shops in every 4-5 houses :-)

The cottages in Karpe's Wadi are minimally furnished and kept very clean. Not the 5star cleanliness but just enough to make you feel fresh and safe. The resort area mostly made up of rolled sea sand and safe and fun for children.

The beach is in the backyard. Not more than 1 min walk from your room. The beach is extremely clean with grey sand. The seashore is flat and one could walk may be 100m into the water and still be safe. There is absolutely no crowd on this private beach.

The water sports available on site are a great fun. The equipment is well maintained and of good quality. The staff is also very knowledgeable and have safety as their primary objective. Our 5 yr old could accompany us on the jet ski and we always felt safe.

They serve Veg menu on the buffet and you need to order non-veg separately (preferably 2-3 hrs before the meal). The food is simple and tasty. They cook excellent seafood, all using local spices. We tried crab and other local fish for every meal and never once were we disappointed.

The hosts are very friendly and flexible. They took special efforts to get us the crab meat. The staff is very polite and friendly.

Note that they serve alcohol but you are not allowed to have it in the restaurant. You can have it in the comfort of your cottage. These are some subtle rules that make this a family friendly and safe facility.

Overall, if you are looking for a quick beach getaway from Pune, seriously consider Karpe's Wadi.

Some tips:
1. Carry enough cash. Though you can pay by credit card, because of the remote location, the swipe machine may not always work.
2. Carry mild mosquito repellent.
3. Expect excellent local food and perfect basic service. But, do not expect typical 5 or 3 star resort service and facilities. It is more like you are staying with a family here and you need to be considerate and co-operative with staff as well as fellow travellers.

Room Tip: They have some specious rooms called sea forts.

The moment you step in you are pampered with refreshing coconut water and a 1000w smile.
Having their own poultry and cattle the food is home cooked and a bliss to taste.
With hammocks everywhere you just make your self cosy with a book and listen to the rumbling of the waves & when you are done reading you get your flip-flops and hit the beach which is right next door. The resort boasts of a self-run water sport facility which is remarkable.
Drawbacks:
Lack Of Parking Space
Kitchens Are Dirty
Staff Can Be More Enthusiastic

Room Tip: Prefer Rooms Away From The Poultry Farm And Cowshed.

Relaxing weekend getaway from the hustle and bustle of city life. Very simple homestay settings but very beautiful nonetheless.
Home-cooked food and hammocks everywhere for a relaxed holiday.
Very nice for a short stay with friends & family since it's quite close to Mumbai city. The only negative is the bumpy road to take you there.

Karpe's Wadi is a value for money place. No fancy trims and fusses but clean and well maintained rooms with a nice inner-ring of garden forming the courtyard. The staff are quiet and helpful. The nearness to the beach helps - you open the back gate and step right out on to the beach.

The fun part was thinking what to eat - fish or, chicken as an addition to the vegetarian thali meal available. The food tastes nice and, isn't too oily or, awkwardly cooked. The administration takes time to maintain the resort and, although it could do with a bit more structured car parking space, that isn't a major glitch at this point.
