Ciarans Camp is a real gem of a place in a fantastic location, this was our 2nd visit to Palolem Beach and after staying in the Coco Huts last time we opted for a bit of luxury. Cant understand the moaners what do you expect these are chalet type suites on an Indian beach if you want 5 star luxury go stay in a Taj hotel! Anyway we were given the Chalet right on the front facing the beach, I was well pleased with the bed as it was a proper bed with a thick Slumberdown type mattress. The place was spotless and sitting out on the front porch during the day and at night was a real delight, there are loads of places to eat along the beach. Would highly recommend Cierans Camp.

Room Tip: Our 'hut ' right on the front was fantastic

An absolute dream location! Ciaran's was one of the most beautiful places i've ever stayed. The grounds were kept absolutely pristine, and the "huts" were absolutely beautiful. You could fall asleep to the sound of the sea every night, and the beds were pretty comfy (apart from the put me up we had as there was a third person in our room, so we swapped every night!) The prices are reasonable for the mount of work that goes into the resort, and the breakfast, water and afternoon tea that was included was a lovely touch. The attached restaurant served up lovely food at a great price, and the beach was fantastic. Palolem is an absolutely beautiful place and an age away from the resorts of the north! Would thoroughly recommend staying here if you want to get back to basics, but also feeling comfortable at the same time!

Room Tip: Maybe get a room that is either right on the ocean front or a bit back fro the restaurant, as ours w...

I stayed at Ciaran's for a week and enjoyed the proximity to the beach and the elegant huts. However, since staying in many other parts of India, I think that the accommodation and the restaurant is very over-priced for what's provided.

I stayed for the last week of the season (they close May 20th for the monsoon), and upgraded to an ocean view coco hut at no extra cost - thank you Ashley! In season this could be a noisy choice, but Palolem Beach is dismantling at this time of year so many places were already closed and it was quiet... perfect, a sea breeze and the sound of the waves to sleep to. The hut was clean and comfortable, everything worked, the only thing missing was a decent light to read by at night really. Hot water is solar powered so only really works during the day but a cold shower is fine in this weather anyway. The restaurant was a stand out, staff, ambience, and food were exceptional and well worth the slightly higher prices - hats off to whoever hired young Krishna from Nepal, he's a gem. There are many much cheaper accommodation choices in Palolem, but Ciarans is probably the classiest option on the beach itself, its a good looking place. Airport pickup was the same price as a prepaid from the airport itself. Scooter hire easily arranged. Extensive library for guests was an added bonus - my only flaw would be breakfast not available until 8.30, but Im a notoriously early riser, and I would also have liked to have had the facility to make tea in my room. Costly, but a big thumbs up from me.

Room Tip: Off season, noise didn't seem to be an issue at all in the beach front rooms.

I am a Goan and had been on a holiday to Palolem and chanced upon Ciarans. This place is basic but highest in aesthetic value. The huts are basic but very clean and ecofriendly. We had a great time in the restaurant. The staff and management made our stay very memorable.

We (me and my wife) stayed here from 1st to 4th May 2013. The location is just fantastic, just on the beach and food is good, but that's it!! Honestly, I did not find any greatness about the hotel. Few flip sides that any traveler should keep in mind. Those are:
1. No dedicated parking space - so if you are driving in, then please do not stay there! You need to park either to a common open parking area which is about 300 meters away and leave the keys of the car with the attendant or park in a so called private place below coconut trees, where you will always have fear that coconut may fall on your car and damage!!
2. The phone number provided in website, is a landline phone. I had tried many times to find out if they have parking and also driving direction, no one picked up. When I reached and complained about it - guess what was the response!! The number is not working! They do not bother to provide any alternative number. The same happened to email also, they had not responded the mail as the phone line was dead (just imagine, in today you can check email from your phone, but no one cares to do that!!)
3. Rooms are overpriced - 4000 per night for A/C room is high, there is no table or chair inside the room. Second night there were at least 10 ants started running on our bed and we had to kill them during mid night!
4. Entry of the hotel is really poor - you actually need to walk through a slam. People who are coming from other country - believe me, India is not full of slum, but if you stay here, you may have that feeling!
5. During 2 days, 3 nights at least twice there was no water in bathroom and one of us had to go them and ask them to start the water pump and other person had to wait in the bathroom for water!!

So, in single word, i shall not recommend this place to say, unless you are fine with all these odds and consider only one advantage that this is on the beautiful beach.

We went to Palolem for 3 nights and since this was our second visit we knew exactly where to stay and what to expect. We love Palolem and love Ciaran's. Infact the first time when we stayed here we had promised ourselves to go back again. And go back we did! Ciaran's is very well located- right on the beach. However this time we got accommodation at Tapas just next to Ciaran's but in the same compound. It was lovely. Our room was cosy, quiet and comfortable. The staff is very helpful particarly Ashley. The food is awesome and not to forget the good breakfast and the evening tea and cake that comes as part of the tariff. Absolute value for money. And yes given another chance we will go back to Ciaran's again!
