Lovely collection of well-built, clean beach huts on the idyllic Palolem beach. Our wooden hut was very sturdy (hard to believe it is disassembled every year!?) with ensuite loo and shower. Double bed came with mosquito net and power sockets. We also had a little balcony and were barely 100 foot from the sea.
Cafe Blue provides their own sun loungers on the beach and run a covered restaurant serving breakfast, lunch, dinner and drinks, complete with pool table and scrabble set. The food was good, although some other local restaurants further in towards the village were truly outstanding.
Palolem beach is about 2 hours drive from Dabolim airport but is more than worth the trip and the hotel will arrange for a very reasonable pickup/drop-off service. The beach itself is very beautiful - there are lots of similar beach hut/hotels lined up together with bars and restaurants and although busy it did not feel over crowded or unpleasant. There are rockpools when the tide goes out at one end and various raised restaurants on the peninsular where you can watch the sun set into the sea. Boat rides are available which take you out to a nearby island.
Staff were friendly, helpful and chatty. If they have you pegged as a sun worshipper they reserve sun loungers for you without even being asked! Would highly recommend as a very comfortable and fun budget beach stay.More
