An amazing beach with a lot of sand but also a lot of rocks inside it. The beach is next to Masala and in my personal opinion better than Matala. There is a small part where you have to drive off road to go to the parking there but it is ok. If you want to sit under the umbrella and the chairs you have to visit early in the morning because the chairs are not so many. The beach also has turtles careta careta which are protected by wood so be careful to not harm any of them. I definitely recommend Komos beach!!

This is quite a popular beach with locals. It has a large parking area which costs only €2 to park in though most people park in the lane going to the beach
It could be so much more impressive if the minoan ruins by the beach are tourist proofed and then be opened. A tacky fence makes it look like a failed hotel groundwork
Also the waves are great but there are many rocks just below the sea surface so swimming can be hazardous
Nearby Matala beach is safer and more interesting

Many places in the shade show evidence of long term visitors camping along the beach although no camping signs around
Extensive fenced in Minoan ruins overlook the beach with little information
No amenities, you will need to bring everything with you for a day trip

Huge beach with plenty of space - quite a lot of nudists here though.
Minoan site behind beach is not open sadly.
Good contrast to Matala nonsense.
not much shade though- bring your umbrella
