B&B Villa Tavallini
Ranked #1 of 2 Pollone B&B and Inns
Reviewed July 2, 2013

A lovely place to stay as a family or with friends, you will want to move in! This is the kind of B&B that makes you want to give up hotels.
The family are helpful, delightful, generous without being intrusive. The house and grounds are large enough for everyone to feel comfortable and you can mingle or find some peaceful space of your own. The gardens are VERY beautiful. Superb trees, lovely views under blue sky or with the mist on the valley, a graceful curving drive that is largely obscured by the trees, hedges so that as you approach the house the villa reveals itself to you. It is a graceful building in the Prealps classic style. Furnishings are interesting as the brothers of the family restore antiques. Memorabilia from their travels also decorates the living areas including wonderful photographs from the Himalaya and India.
We drove here via Switzerland/France/Germany via Aosta. The beauty of the area on approach was outstanding.
We took three rooms. With our two children we had what felt like a private apartment as the rooms and ensuite shower room open onto an independent hall with charming folding wooden doors. With young children (9 & 11) this was a bonus as we had our privacy but also the children had access to us and we could supervise their showers etc. our dog was very happy sleeping on her mat in the little hall.
Our friends had a double room upstairs which they loved. A lovely staircase leading to a charming double room with a pretty view. The rooms have lovely decor that compliments the building and its surrounds. The is plenty of cupboard and storage which was good as we stayed a few days. The beds are comfortable. Wifi was fast though in some areas of the bedroom it faded somewhat as is to be expected in older buildings with solid walls. The house is peaceful and the bird song in the morning is lovely to wake to. The windows are solid and the are shutters that you can lower to sleep in.
Breakfast was very nice with espresso coffee to order from our lovely host, Gaetano. Ham or prosciutto, local cheese, jam, delicious honey (also local), pastries and bread, orange juice, tea, yoghurt, Nutella, fruit. You are not abandoned at breakfast. Your host and his mother are on hand to see that you have what you need.
For an overnight in the area or a few days we would recommend this B&B and area. There are beautiful, well preserved towns in the area to explore on foot including Candelo (Pollone itself is great). The hikes and walks from the house are terrific. A picnic in the sun at Oropa is a must, with local produce from the little market in the car park. Explore the history of the area, its partisan resistance during the war, the many sanctuaries hand painted in naive style dedicated to the Black Madonna, the stunning villas and extraordinary colour and variety of flowers.
To top it all of there are very few tourists, excellent restaurants and great gelato!
Gaetano took us walking with the dogs, there are pools to swim in, fresh alpine water cold and clear, fields of flowers, stunning peaks...
We will be back to enjoy this stunning natural environment in winter.

Unfortunately we stayed only one night in the beautiful house of Gaetano. The villa is beautifully furnished and is so comfortable. Gaetano is a wonderful host and served us a magnificent breakfast. Pollone is a relatively unknown town in Italy but we shall return very soon to discover the many beautiful walks in the mountains of the area. Gaetano knows the whole area and we are so sorry to have had such a short stay. Pollone itself is a gorgeous town just above Biele, which is very quiet and filled with magnificent villas. We can't wait to return as this was one of the best stays of our 6 weeks in Europe.

If I had to sum up our experience at B&B Villa Tavallini in one word, it would be "bellissimo"... in Italian of course! The villa is a beautiful house run by a beautiful friendly family in a truly beautiful location. Our room was comfortable and spacious, with beautiful decor, and from the very first we were made to feel welcome in the family atmosphere. I am so glad we decided to stay in Pollone, just to the west of Biella. The natural surroundings are breathtaking. Don't miss the chance to visit Oropa, and the Parco Burcina just to the north of Pollone. And I'm sure there are other wonderful places too that we didn't get to see. Back in Canada I am missing so much our wonderful Alpine walks and the superb honey and cheese of Gaetano's breakfasts! Looking forward so much to our next visit!

Room Tip: Plan your trip ahead of time. Gaetano doesn't of course have unlimited space!

We stayed at Gaetanos B&B for three nights and it was the best stay of our two weeks in Italy. Gaetano welcomed us with open arms and we felt like home immediately. Villa Tavallini is a beautiful house in a beautiful place, right below the Alps. The breakfast was also the best we've had under our tour in Italy, with alternative choices for us Scandinavians who don´t like sweets to breakfast.

Thanks to Gaetano, and his friend Teresa, we had the possibility to experience the Alps, Valle d´aosta and see the four-thousand mountains. It was an amazing hike and even if it was hard at the time we are so thankful to Gaetano for sharing his mountains with us.

We stayed at Villa Tavallini for two nights and left wishing it could be longer...! Gaetano was a great host and made us feel very welcome in his beautiful house, our room was cool and spacious, with a very clean and tasteful bathroom. Breakfast was tasty and plentiful with local biscuits and cheeses.

Piedmont has much to offer and Gaetano gave us some great tips for local trips, as well as for a great local restaurant (la Taverna del Gufo - run by his friends)

All in all this really was a nice stay and I would strongly recommend Villa Tavallini to anyone staying in the area. If you are reading this Gaetano - many thanks and we will be back...!

Room Tip: The upstairs room on the North side is lovely and cool, with a nice blue tiled shower room.

I stayed at Villa Tavallini with my two young children and we could not have been made more welcome. The rooms were relatively small, but clean, pleasantly furnished and very comfortable. There is wifi if you need to use it, the living room is welcoming, and the breakfasts are wonderful. The house is superbly situated, with beautiful views over the plain below and across to mountains 100km away (the hairpin bends in the drive attest to its lofty position above Pollone), but it is the host, Gaetano, and his brother, who really make this such a special place to stay. They are charming and friendly, full of information and always helpful. My sons played in the gardens with their children, were introduced to the (very placid) dogs and left with some locally-made biscuits, since they had enjoyed them so much. As we made our way, very slowly, down the driveway at the end of our stay, the children asked if we can come again, please. Yes, I think we shall!

Wonderful 4 days spent at Villa Tavallini. Very helpful, polite and constantly available landlord being able and willing to help to know the region. He offered marvellous places to visit nearby - also excellent opportunities for tours and excursions. Excellent B&B in a beautiful villa with a very nice garden with spectacular view on the valley and mountains. Great atmosphere, real relax! Very clean and lovely room, completely silent as far above the street. Must visit. 10/10.
