“The most pleasurable authentic South African experience available”

My experience at the Blue on Blue B&B has been like no other. I felt like I was in the comfort of my own home with a staff that truly cares about how I was doing each and every day, trying to help make it the most relaxing and easiest experience available. They toured us around all of Cape Town's most treasured sites and were very accommodating. Their connection with the Kayelitsha township provides an opportunity to experience the history that took place in Cape Town for the last few decades with a wonderful group of women who work to raise the spirits in their community through their artwork. On top of all these wonderful experiences, it is only a 5 minute walk from the beach and every window in the B&&B overlooks the Atlantic ocean, which really makes it feel like paradise. The staff is a very special group of people and I feel very lucky to have been able to stay at this B&B and highly recommend it to anyone coming to Cape Town. Thank you Blue on Blue!!

After a self-catering experience, opted for something nicer. Couldn't have been happier. Delightful hostess who was welcoming and served delicious breakfasts. The views were gorgeous. Did not have a chance to visit the education centre that the establishment supports, but from the description I was happy to spend my pounds in way that helps others. Top notch experience.

Room Tip: Curries is great for singles. Huge bathtub! Old style.

We stayed at Blue on Blue in 2011 & returning to SA a year later it was an automatic choice for our first few days. The location is excellent - roadworks excepted - with easy access to Cape Point, Table Mountain & anywhere south of the city.

Last year we stayed in 2 of the 3 rooms & on that basis selected the largest (& most expensive) for this stay. I don't remember its description but it is elgantly furnished with a large & comfortable bed. The views of the sea & coastline are pretty good & we spotted whales from the window.

The property is not signposted or identified from the outside so online advance booking is essential.

One thing which impressed me is the selection of books in the rooms. They are the most eclectic I have ever encountered in a B&B & it was no surprise to discover that the american owners are both professors of literature. However it would help if the lighting could be improved in order to read the books.

Nadeem is a very personable & helpful host & Yoliswa provides a good breakfast.

The property is next door to a junior school so sometimess on weekdays there is noise in the morning from the playground which might disturb late sleepers. The mid priced room is the closest to the school.

The only other negative is the roadworks on the main road which I mentioned above and have actually been under way for well in excess of a year. They cause long delays & must be an awful frustration for the local inhabitants. It looks as if they will probably run for some time to come.

If you arrive at the airport early morning on a weekday do not follow the directions given as you will find yourself in one of the worst traffic jams ever encountered. Head for the coast instead of the city & as long as you don't get lost you will be grateful for this advice.

Room Tip: As mentioned the most expensive of the 3 rooms is the largest & most comfortable, with good view...

As a family and individually, we frequently look back at our time at Blue on Blue with fond memories. The guesthouse was exceptional in all regards—beautiful setting, lovely and interesting interior, and fantastic hosts. We loved the personal touches Nadeem supplied, from daily fresh bread to his frank and touching discussions of life in South Africa, and his life-changing tour of the township. It was a truly amazing experience. We would highly recommend Blue-on-Blue as an ideal place to stay in Capetown. And if we ever make another trip to Capetown, our first choice by far for lodging is Blue-on-Blue.

Room Tip: All of the rooms were great!

This B & B has loads of personality. The professionalism of the staff and the dedication and genuine concern of the proprietors made my stay truly memorable. I cant say enough about both Dorothy and Tom's hospitality. I wish I had more time to take everything in...But I will return one day soon!

We went to Cape Town for a week-end with my partner's family. We live in Johannesburg and dont get the opportunity to see them often.
We wanted to have one night on our own, just the both of us, in a nice and quite place.
I looked for several places and we chose Blue on Blue.
We have stayed at quite a few places in South Africa, bed and breakfast, guest houses etc. over the past 2 years.
Blue on Blue is the best we have encountered.
Nadeem and Yoliswa, the managers of the B&B, are really sweet. As we say in French "des perles" (pearls, jewels).
They are great hosts and make you feel comfortable straight away.
The house is awesome. It feels like a family place, carrying a lot of history I am sure.
It has been renovated and decorated in the most perfect taste. We were amazed.
Pictures, dolls, curtains, cushions etc that are made and sold by the NGO form which the B&B is part of.
You can sit in the lounge - take a book and lay down on the daybed, overlooking the sea....
There are plenty of books at the B&B , magazines etc.
There is even a cute TV room, with a DVD player....
Breakfast was great - Fresh fruits, yogurts, fresh bread.... And if you want, eggs sausages etc.
I was happy to see that we had healthy options for breakfast - which is something that often lacks in other places.
We are planning to go back in a couple of months.... I just hope there will be space for us !!!

Room Tip: There are only 3 rooms, one is twin beds, one is a honey moon suite and the third one is a double ro...

We spent at Blue on Blue the last 3 nights of our holiday in South Africa, and we couldn't have chosen a better place. Its location with stunning view on the ocean, and easy reach of all the wonders of the Peninsula, the nicely decorated rooms and the warmness of its host gave us the chance to taste all the beauty of South Africa. The rainbow that we could enjoy from our window on the last morning set the seal on our discovery tour in this wonderful country!
