Blue On Blue Bed & Breakfast
Ranked #2 of 7 St. James B&B and Inns
Reviewed December 11, 2011

This was serendipity at its best. We picked this B&B based on TA's recommendations and the hook was the non-profit organization they support in the township of Kayelitsha. We had been in SA before but this was our first trip to Cape Town.
This was absolutely unquestionably the best place to stay, centrally located to all points of interest yet secluded in a quiet sea side village with quaint shops and restaurants to explore, and within walking distance to a nice beach. We spent 10 days in the master suite and could have spent 10 more. The room was spotless, roomy and beautiful. But yet the best was the care given to us by Yoliswa and Nadeem, who fed both our stomachs and our minds, even our souls.
From Nadeem we learned so much about the country's history and places to visit. He took us on a tour of Kayelitsha on Thanksgiving Day (US) that will always stay with us as one of our most memorable. We feel we made new friends and hope to stay in touch with them, hoping to be able to visit again this beautiful place with a beautiful mission run by beautiful people. Nadeem and Yoliswa, you opened our hearts to South Africa (and we miss your breakfasts!).

Room Tip: The master suite is very roomy, and the deep tub is great for baths looking out into the bay.

We had a fabulous two-night stay in the middle of November. We booked Blue on Blue based on other TripAdvisor reviews, and were not disappointed. We received great directions from the Airport, making it easy to find. It is off the main street, so it is very quiet and relaxing. We had a quaint room with a view of the ocean. This is, by far, one of the cleanest places we have ever stayed. Our room and the rest of the B&B were absolutely spotless! It is obvious that Youlisha takes great pride in her work. She cooks an excellent breakfast as well! Both Youlisha and Nadeem were wonderful hosts, and made some great suggestions regarding our trip as well as restaurants in the area. Make sure you visit Olympia Cafe: it is fantastic. The service can be a bit slow at times, but the quality of the food and overall experience is worth it.

Youlisha and Nadeem: thank-you for all you did to create wonderful memories for us. It is obvious that you are passionate about what you do. You provided excellent guest service, and made us feel like we were visiting friends, rather than staying in a B&B. We highly recommend Blue on Blue to anyone looking to stay in Cape Town or the surrounding area. It is a great place to explore Boulders (only spot in Africa where penguins breed) and the Cape of Good Hope.

We stayed here for three nights at the end of our three and a half week trip to SA and we are SO glad we made this choice. We wanted to stay here because of the particular ethos of this unique B+B (and because of the brilliant reviews on TA about every other aspect too). Simply by staying here you contribute to the community projects in Khayelitsha. We spent two mornings in Khayelitsha township, and our experiences, made possible by Nadeem and Yoliswa at Blue on Blue are unforgettable...... thank you again to both for creating precious memories.
We loved it here for everything else too, of course - the location, the views, the great breakfasts (thanks for the garlic and soya sauce tips re cooking mushrooms), the comfiest bed and pillows, the graciousness and helpfulness of Nadeem and Yolisa with regard to all aspects of our stay. Suffice it to say this was a very special final stop of our trip!

The Blue On Blue was the first stop on our South Africa trip and it proved to be the perfect start. Easy to reach from Cape Town airport, it was a great destination after the long flight.

We stayed in the master suite for two nights. The suite has great views, as you could see the ocean from the bedroom as well as from the bathroom.

The B & B is very clean. But the best about the B&B is the staff, which is very friendly and helpful. If it is about your wishes regarding the breakfast or some useful information for your travel itinerary, they are always willing to help you.

The breakfast is delicious.Especially the fresh bread and Yoliswas mushrooms.

Yoli and Nadeem take very good care of you when you stay in this most beautiful part of Capetown facing False Bay and Cape Point. Take a lovely morning walk from Blue on Blue down to the water and along the seawall to Muizenburg and back. Go to Octopi for interactions with people from the neighborhood, excellent food and drink, and a great sunset. Drive to Cape Point and then into Capetown for some of the best views in South Africa.

A perfect spot when you want to enjoy the coastal scene away from the city on the warmer indian ocean side. The staff here are one major strong point. Kind and helpful. Views are another plus. It's located on the mountainside so you feel you have the world at your feet. Good eats, too. Try the township tour.

My wife and I visited Cape Town and had the great pleasure of staying at Blue on Blue , a quaint B&B in St. James, about 45 minutes away from Cape Town. It is hidden away among the picturesque Table Mountain National Park mountains. The location was perfect for us to experience both the urban and country lifestyles. We were minutes away from everythign we could need on a vacation.
The rooms clean, comfortable and had fantastic views of the bay. The service was warm and hospitable and the breakfasts delicious. To add to this, the B&B is adorned with interesting eclectic art pieces that only add to the ambience. Tom, the owner and Nadeem, the manager have been super helpful and prompt in their response to my often irritating requests and clarifications.
I highly recommend this B&B for folks who are looking for a great place with superlative service.

Room Tip: We chose the Cape View room, which was perfect for couples who want to get cozy ;-)
