This is a delightfully comfortable hotel fitted with a mix of modern and traditional fittings with classic scottish art. Fantastic loch side location and the food is fresh as can be.

Well worth a visit.

Not stayed here for several years but visit every so often for lunch. Over the years the food has been fairly average.

Visited last Saturday April 19 (first time for quite a while) and the food has been transformed beyond all recognition. We sampled most of the fixed lunch menu (£15 ish per head for 3 courses). Everything was freshly made, full of flavour, creatively conceived and presented. Service was great too. A really memorable meal. Can't recommend highly enough.

Will definitely be back and more regularly than before.

Was really looking forward to staying here after all the good reviews. It is a beautiful building with loads of lovely features.
We received a warm welcome and were really pleased.
The bedroom was another matter there was a view of a fire escape and the building work for the new extension, basically a load of rubble! I was at least expecting a glimpse of the loch. The room just didnt come up to expectation.
Spent a couple of days touring the area which is beautiful, I love glencoe although its a bit further away.
Had nice breakfast, couldnt fault that at all, tried one evening meal but not very impressed with that, they had a problem with the potatoes! Not quite sure what it was but thats what they told us...
The building work is hopefully finished now and things may be better but it did put us of.

If you want to escape from it all then Knockderry is the place to go. Just a short drive from the hub of Glasgow and we found ourselves immersed in one of the best small hotels we have staying in for years. The website speaks for itself in terms of the landscape and scenery, one of the few that actually reflects what you get.
The hotel itself is a superb building with its own unique history. It is extremely comfortable and facilities and décor have the perfect balance between old and new. Everything is so welcoming from the crackling open fire and wonderfully relaxing chairs in the bar right through to the crisp white sheets and French four poster beds (Its defiantly worth booking one of these).
We had both breakfast and dinner there during our stay and the food was superb. The quality of the ingredients and flavour was only surpassed by the charming and very entertaining maitre d. The bar has wonderful character and a superb selection of the mandatory local whiskies but also everything else you can desire.
The factor that made our stay at Knockderry so pleasurable was the instinctive nature of the staff, always polite, ever attentive but not overbearing or pushy. We will definitely be back.

The Knockderry is a great hotel. Small, but with first class facilities. I've stayed a few times, but I was given a room in the new wing this stay, and it was excellent. Spotless, warm, good decor, great room facilities. The bathroom was beautiful.
The breakfast is first class, particularly the smoked haddock, and the staff are all very professionla. The owner is a sound bloke too!
Well recommended.

I did my research before booking a long weekend at the Knockderry House Hotel. I checked the reviews on here and studied their website and was looking forward to a relaxing indulgent weekend. I was disappointed with some aspects of my stay so here goes:

Positives - idyllic location, fabulous views, property clean, welcoming, packed with character, good customer service - friendly, polite and helpful staff.

Negatives - food was pretty lousy - breakfasts ok but lunches practically non-existent (same menu as dinner menu and none of the tasty sandwiches marketed on the sample lunch menu on the website), Dinners were dreadful - not sure if this place is having 'chef' problems - got the impression food was defrosted batches of foods that had been heated in the microwave - not very tasty and some was pretty disgusting. I do have high standards when it comes to good food and was so disappointed. I was expecting (again from the reviews and comments on the hotel website) top notch cuisine - local, home cooked produce. I know good food and it definitely wasn't!

Also, not sure this place is value for money - very expensive (£170 I think we paid for dinner, bed & breakfast per night per couple). Aside from the food letting the place down, the bed was small and not very comfortable. (Would expect King Size and comfy at this price) Also, I was told there would be plasma TV screens and CD players in the room and there was the tiniest oldest portable TV ever and no music system. I know this may sound shallow - why go to rural delightful Scotland to watch telly?! I agree, but this place is literally in the sticks so nights in after long walks after dinner involved squinting at a tiny little TV!

Feel rather cheated and as my negatives unfortunately outweigh my positive memories I wouldn't return or recommend...sorry!

I was really looking into spending New Years Eve at the Hotel after all the great comments in this site. I contacted them twice and nobody was able to tell me about the New Years package,or if there was any rooms available. So unprofessional that it is unbelievable!!! The reception lady said that i should check what it says in the website! Bless!!! Told her there was no information about the menu, etc and she said that she didn't know either, so i finish saying THANK YOU for all this misunderstanding as if they plan things that badly i wouldn't have too many expectations!Thumbs down in customer services, such a shame because the place itselfs looks very nice...
