“Great”
Reviewed March 28, 2013

Had the best 4 days, did not know what to expect, but it far exceeded anything we expected, Jenny and max were great hosts and go beyond what they need to do, very clean and very spacious cabins and lovely to see the wild life around us. Would recommend to anyone and hope yo return soon.

Visited Old Dadswell Town the first weekend in March. Great collection of nick backs and Australian memorabilia. Comfortable rooms. Not 5 star but very clean. Look for things around that show the owners sense of humour . Like a telephone fixed to a tree so you can make a "trunk" call. Enjoyed the native animal zoo at the Giant Koala. Great weekend!

Excellent stay. Max and Jenny were very accommodating and friendly.
Parents loved it being so close to hundreds of kangaroos.

Max even brought a wallabie for my mom to have a closer look and feed bread piece.

Beware of speed camara on the track though! :)

Room Tip: Madame X Bordello has better view for the evening kangaroo show

My husband and I,along with our golden retriever had a blast! We stayed at the Cobb & Co cabin and our dog was welcome to stay with us. There were so many things to see- from classic cars, different types of memorabilla and themed cabins. Lots of funny signages as well to make you laugh while roaming around the area. Max and Jenny were top notch hosts, they created such a relaxed atmosphere. During the day we went fishing and Max gave hubby great fishing tips and some bait whilst Jenny were guiding us through the map on good locations. At night, it was a beautiful weather so all the guests and the hosts gathered around the "Town Hall" and had bbq and drinks. Everyone had a great time. Max even drove around his really old funky car with the cop siren to put on a show for everyone. The Wallaby and their dog Jessie also joined us that night. Needless to say, we will definitely be back as we felt our 2 nights was just not enough!

We stayed in Old Dadswell Town for 3 nights, as part of our honeymoon in Australia. We traveled around in Australia for over 4 weeks, and from all the B&B's, hotels, motels, inns and cabins, Old Dadswell Town was definitely the best.

The cottages are perfectly clean, nicely built and decorated in an old Western theme. We stayed in the Bordello Cottage, which had a great view, and an extra touch of humour in the bedroom decorations. The owners, Max & Jenny, were without doubt the best hosts we had in Australia. Their hospitality was something we never had experienced elsewhere. Max even took us out on a 4WD trip into his favorite land, which was an unforgettable experience for us.

I would definitely recommend this place to everyone. If you have kids, they will enjoy it even more. There are multiple little 'spots' amongst the cottages where something funny or curious was built. There is plenty of wildlife to be found on the terrain itself, and the most beautiful hikes of the Grampians are only a short drive away.

A small yet fantastic place!

Room Tip: The Bordello Cottage was wonderful. We only looked into the other cottages via the windows, but they...

Weren't too sure what to expect when driving in! Lots of different signs...mostly funny. Loved the Speed Camera Ahead sign with an old video camera further up the road! Our hosts were fantastic and put us in the "Madame X Bordello"...great views of the Grampians. Cabins are quite large, very clean and comfortable and had everything you could need in them. Food wise, make sure you bring what you need with you...same as any caravan park! Basic supply of Tea and Coffee supplied but the rest is up to you!. They are all well spaced out (there are only 7 cabins so you don't feel cramped in!) and the "Town Hall" is central to all. A great place to explore....you find something different everyday. Lovely to sit there with a fire going and just relax and spend some time with our hosts!
It is so central to Horsham and Stawell and Ararat. Had a fantastic 5 nights there and will do it again!

Room Tip: Madame X Bordello has the best views of the Grampians but that does not detract from the quaintness...

Can't understand Disappointed's review, we took time out and found that jenny and max couldn't do enough for us. Max has a sence of humour reflected in some of the memorabilia that is around the town hall. There are large areas where we can go walking through and many opportunities for photographic work. We found the place very clean and comfortable and overall recommend the place to anyone who want a peaceful restful time.

Room Tip: The rooms at the back have better views of the Grampians we stayed in the Bordello and enjoyed their...
