“450 million year of Igneous-Rock history !”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 24, 2013

Raneh Falls is a hour's drive from Khajuraho and a must visit . This is where Ken falls into the volcanic canyon and you can see five kinds of rocks . About 460 million years ago a volcanic eruption took place to create a 5 km long canyon, River Ken rises up hundreds of feet in monsoon. Pink is granite, black is dolomite, brown is quartz, yellow is basalt, reddish is jasper. The Falls are in the Panna Forest Reserve .

“breathtaking and unforgettable”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 31, 2013

no photos can do justice to the beauty and majesty of the falls. its only the eyes that can take it in and memory retain it. the falls are truly breathtaking, beautiful and simply awesome. a must visit if you are anywhere in their vicinity, we went from khajuraho and am i glad that i did go. apart from the main falls there are smaller falls to be spotted in the distance. created in a crater/ canyon caused due to volcanic eruptions, you can actually see the five different types of rocks - red jasper, pink/brown granite, yellow basalt, quartz and black dolomite, amazing to view. the guide we had, whose payment is made with the entry ticket was also excellent and helped us procure samples of the stones(though for a charge) - an unforgettable experience.

“Simply awesome”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 30, 2013

The visit to the spot was a superb experience for all of us. The majestic ambiance created by the multicoloured, craggy igneous rocks of different kinds, the mighty fall with its mysterious mist-covered base, its smaller companions adding to the charm, the canyon turning into a river - words are really not adequate to describe the experience.
Just one suggestion - can someone in authority think of doing something about the road to this wonderful place?

“beautiful falls and nice views”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 26, 2013

We really enjoyed this side trip--and actually went the afternoon we arrived, even before seeing the temples. The falls are only about a 1-1.5 hours outside Khajuraho. The entry ticket includes the cost of a guide--- and it's well worth having him explain the views, history, etc. Nice views of the falls, the rock formations around the falls, and the mountains in the area.

“Very good daytrip from Khajuraho”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 25, 2013

Staying in Khajuraho, I decided to rent a Scooter and do a daytrip to Raneh Falls and Pandev Falls. First, I got to Raneh Falls - I certainly did not expect it to be such a good choice! The landscape is stunning and the falls are well worth the visit. Since there are very few tourists (I only saw some Indian families) it is the perfect place to grab a book and read one, two or more hours. After that I also visited Pandev falls (about 30 km away, near Madla) and this was also a really nice spot! Both places are perfect to enjoy nature and get a break from "India"....
