My partner and I have just returned from a weeks holiday in Goa, where we stayed 7 nights at the Grand Hyatt Goa.
From the palatial buildings, to the huge gardens and pool area, to the well appointed rooms there was nothing at this property that we could find fault.
On the first 4 nights of our stay the property was running at over 90% occupancy yet due to an Indian wedding and a work conference, we still felt like we were the only people staying at the property, and during the days there were at most 10 people around the pool, which was fantastic giving us the time to totally relax.
We were booked into a Bay View King room, which was extensive with outdoor seating area, and the bathroom with separate bath and shower cubicle with a 'Rain Shower'
When booking our stay, we opted for the Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner option which even though we could only use the restaurants and not for around the pool dining we found the food to be varied and plentiful. Breakfast could only be taken in the dining room (which is buffet style); the options for lunch were either the dining room buffet style or Chulha (which is their Indian Restaurant) and for dinner again, this could be either the dining room, Chulha or The Verandah, it was great to have the variety to choose from, even though we ate mainly at Chulha as they made us different meals on every visit.
The staff are extremely tentative, friendly, welcoming and more than happy to do anything for you, even the room attendance were friendly and happy to be of service.
The beach is large and lovely to walk on during the day or afternoon stroll, I would probably not recommend swimming, even though you will see the locals doing so, but the beach is safe with hotel security, but nothing to do except for strolling. There are no local shops or night stands to walk to if you want this then you will need to take a car out to the different areas, we did use the hotel vehicles for a few days to go exploring Old Goa, Panjim etc.
The hotel facilities are grand, from the outdoor pool, to the gardens, indoor steam and spa area with 'Roman Style' indoor Jacuzzi to the largest indoor lap pool it was wonderful. The hotel itself is not yet 2 years old, but they are already doing small touch ups to ensure that the property stays in 'tip top' condition which is great to see. .
We had the opportunity to meet the GM, who was extremely friendly and took the time out to speak to us and he works closely with his staff which is great to see.
On our day trips we did go and see some of the other hotels which we were considering like the Marriott Hotel and the Vivanta by Taj, Fort Aquada and Holiday Village and we were so happy that we did not chose any of these as we would have been extremely disappointed, although these properties have places to walk to outside of the main gate, we were still extremely happy that we chose the Grand Hyatt and we are hoping to return to for another holiday soon.
Thanks to all the staff and management for making our stay memorable, and looking forward to returning soon.
