I spent five days with Roberto and Raquel at their very charming house in Aldona. The comfortable rooms are very tastefully done up and their 500 year house stands amongst the luscious vegetation.

What I really liked about the stay there - was the warmth of the family and one felt like a pampered family member. You must try Raquel's home made jams and brownies!!!

I stayed here for 2 days and wished I could stay more. Its was a second home,no doubt! Thanks to Roberto and Raquel, our stay was so peaceful and amazing. It was an experience in itself. A perfect place to get cut off from the outer world and they will make sure you aren't missing anything! Do not think twice before going here! A perfect place to be.

We can't even recall our first stay at Cancio's guest house in Aldona, probably two years back. Since then we've been visiting Goa regularly and only stay at this lovely family run B&B. The rooms are in pristine condition with old wooden carpentry and an attached country styled bathroom. The property itself is in a lush green surround, and being close to a bird sanctuary, it is home to the most loveliest of birds. Raquel and Roberto are great hosts, and Raquel's cookies, cakes and brownies are to die for. What started as an acquaintance has ended up in a very close friendship. This place has opened our eyes to a whole new landscape of the Goan backwaters, starting from Aldona all the way upto Panjim where it meets the Mandovi. Roberto is a captain of a yacht and a great guide to help you explore the natural, untouched, serene side of Goa. It is about 15 minutes from Mapusa and 30 mins from Panjim.

Roberto and Raquel are wonderful hosts who welcome you into their home with open hearts. The property is lovely, and the guest house is surrounded by a lovely garden. The 500 year old home where the family lives is always open; and the kitchen is well stocked with jackfruits, fresh goan bread, and other baked delicacies. Roberto was always available to help make transportation and travel arrangements within Goa, and Raquel was gracious in attending to my family's breakfast, lunch and dinner needs. When my wife, daughter, and I left, we felt we were saying bye to friends.

I cannot say enough good things about this place. The guest room is very nice, much like the picture and it's set in a beautiful garden which is visited by colorful hummingbirds! Bed and breakfast is what you pay for but we ended up having lunch and dinner several times as well. Raquel is an exceptional cook and baker and they welcomed us into the main house as if we were family. I felt comfortable trapsing in there to make an afternoon tea even when noone was around. Another plus is the exceptional quality well water which I loved drinking. And of course the host family. To give you an idea of how warm they were-- I was glad that I'd paid through airb&b because by the time we left we felt so close with them it felt weird to give them money! Aldona village is so green and pristine reminded me of the villages of central France yet uniquely Indian. A beautiful home-stay to write a book or explore Goa while enjoying the company and food of the hosts.
